Dana Perino is an American author and a political commentator.
Early years
She was born on May 9, 1972 in Evanston, Wymoning and has a sister Angie. Her ancestor immigrated from Italy.
She went to Pondenosa High school in Denver. Dana gratuated in 1993. at the Colorado State University in mass communication and political science.
She joined University of Illinois where she completed postgraduate studies in Public Affairs Reporting.
Career development
She worked for various radio and TV stations when she was in college.
She was good at her job so she became a part of a staff for a Congressman Melnnis in Washington, D.C. Then she became a press secretary to a Republican Dan Schaefer, until 1998.
After four years, she moved to England with her husband but returned to Washington in 2001.
That year she became a spokesperson for the United States Department of Justice. After that, she joined the White House staff and after a while she became a Press secretary, in 2007., during George W. Bush presidency.
In the year 2008, she was injured in an accident in Baghdad when a journalist in a press conference started throwing shoes at President George W. Bush.
Although the shoe hasn’t hit him,the microphone stand gave Dana a black eye. She was on that position until 2009.
She was the only second female White House Press Secretary personality ever .
President Obama nominated Perino to join the Broadcasting Board of Governors and she held that position for 3 years.
The same year she joined Fox News as a political commentator and now is a co-host of the popular programme Five.
She started teaching at the School of Political Managment.
She is a book publishing executive at Random House and the President of Dana Perino and Co., a public speaker on political trends.
She wrote a book called „And the Good News Is…: Lessons and Advice from the Bright Side“ and „Let me tell you about Jasper“.
Personal life
She met Peter McMohan for the first time in 1996. He is a businessman from England dealing in marketing of medical products all arround the globe. They got married in 1998. They don’t have any children together but Peter has kids from his previous marriage.
Dana is a great animal lover, and has a dog named Jasper.
Philantropic work
She is involved in work of a charity organization called Mercy Ships which runs since 1978. bringing hospital ships worldwide, especially to countries in development.
She is a spokeperson and an activist for Companions for Heroes also known as C4H providing help and support for millions of military veterans,active military and all others included that are suffering with PTSP.
This largely includes helping veterans to return to their normal everyday life by encouraging them to save a shelter animal, take care of them which helps them in their struggle with PTSP.
