Deborah Meaden is a British businesswoman and investor.

Early years

She was born on 11th February 1959. in Somerset, England.

After her parents separated she moved to Brightlingsea with her mother and an older sister.

Her mother remarried and she got two sisters.

She attended a highschool in Salisbury and went studying to Tombridge High School.

She gratuated business studies at the Brighton Technical College.

Career development 

In the start of her career  Deborah  moved to Italy where she opened an export company for exporting glass and ceramics.

Although she failed in this business she tried to run some other projects including clothing franchise but didn’t succeed in that either.

She finally  returned to the family business in amusement parks  and soon became the Director of Operations.

Two years after she was a Managing Director of the Westar Hollidays.

In 1999. she became the major shareholder and sold her stake gaining millions of pounds.

She kept 23% for herself and sold the rest in 2005.That made her extremely rich and financially independent.

She is currently investing in Fox Brothers ( a textile mill in Wellington), in a website „My dish“ and „Value My Stuff“ and even has shares in a solar electricity company EWS Solar Power.

She founded an online British luxury goods retailer named „The Merchant Fox“.

She became a famous TV person when she entered a reality show “Dragon’s Den” with contestors who are trying to sell their business ideas to her and to other four multi millionaires in the show.

Deborah started filming the show  in 2006 and she was the only female on the show.

That didn’t stop her to invest in over 30 projects and spend over two million pounds.

She is often a guest on a lot of TV shows and she published a book “Common sense rules” in from the 2009.

The same year she appeared in a short film made for the promotion of businesses in Somerset. She had also featured in two other films made for the inward investment agency

In  2010, Meaden was awarded an honorary degree of the University of Exeter.

Personal life

Meaden and her husband Paul met in 1985, while he worked at Weststar during his university break. She didn’t want a family so they separated.

After that she went on a trip in Venezuela and when she came back to London she changed her mind and  decided that she want’s to get married.

She has a reputation of a very determined woman.

They don’t have any  children and live on a farm in Somerset surrounded with beautiful nature and animals.

Philantropic work

Deborah Meaden  is a member of the Council of Ambassadors of the World Wildlife Fund, because of her love to animals and devotion  to their protection.

She is involved in  work with the Dogs Trust charity.
