Biography
John Felix Anthony Cena Jr. was born on April 23, 1977 in West Newbury, Massachusetts. He is the son of John Cena Sr. and Carol. He is the oldest of five brothers and his grandfather was a baseball player Tony Lupien.
John was first attending Central Catholic High School in Lawerence but he was transferred to a Cushing Academy, a private prep boarding school. After graduation he finished Springfield College in Massachusetts and received a degree in exercise physiology. During his college he played football. After his college he started his bodybuilding career and also worked as a limo driver.
Wrestling career
John Cena started his professional wrestling career in 1999. He attended UPW Ultimate University in California and he created a ring role called The Prototype. Some of his work during these days was even recorded in Discovery’s documentary Inside Pro Wrestling School. He stayed there until 2001.
His debut at the WWF was in the year 2000. His first fight was with Mikey Richardson. He lost this fight but showed a lot of skills during the fight. He then fought in “SmackDown!” and took his first victory against Aaron Aguilera.
In 2001 Cena signed a contract with WWF and he was assigned the territory of Ohio Valley Wrestling. He held the OVW Heavyweight Championship for 3 months and for 2 months the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship.
In 2002 Cena had his TV debut in the episode of SmackDown! against Kurt Angle. He lost the fight but showed extreme talent and was even congratulated by the big names such as Chris Jericho and Undertaker. After this Cena became one of the audience favorites.
He later on changed his character from The Prototype to a rapper, because he dressed as Vanilla Ice for Halloween and performed a rap song. After this he took on the character and performed as a rapper.
He even released a rap album called “You can’t see me” in 2005. The album reached number 15 on the Billboard charts.
During his wrestling career he won 12 world titles. Two of them were World Heavyweight Championship and 10 times as a WWE Championship. He won US Championship 3 times, 2 times World Tag Team Championship and 2 times WWE Tag Team Championship.
He was one of the longest reigning wrestlers in WWE history.
Charity work
John Cena’s foundation called “Make a wish” supports children with life-threatening illness. For his charity work he received the Chris Greicius Celebrity Award.
Music and movie career
Along with his wrestling career, John Cena pursued his music career. He released an album in 2005 called “You can’t see me” and, like I said, it reached the number 15 on the charts. He recorded a song for the Untouchables and WWE company’s soundtrack.
In 2014 Cena even featured on two songs with rapper Wiz Khalifa’s singles “All day” and “Breaks”. The songs were used for the WWE 2K15 video game.
He also appeared on the big screen showing great talent. In 2000 he made his first appearance on the big screen in the movie “Ready to rumble” as a gym trainer. After this he also appeared in “The marine”, “Fred:The movie”, “The reunion”, “Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery”, “Trainwreck”, “Sisters” and the latest “Surf’s Up 2; Wave Mania”. In the comedy “Trainwreck”, John Cena showed exceptional comedy talent as well and surprised the critics with his performance.
He also appeared on TV shows like Hannah Montana, SNL, Total Divas, Parks and Recreations and many more. In 2007 he appeared in a CNN Special Investigation Unit documentary “DeathGrip: Inside Pro Wrestling”.

Personal life
Although it seems unlikely, Cena is a big fan of Japanese Anime. His favorite movie is First of the North Star and he also enjoys playing video games. One of his favorite ones is Command and Conquer. As a hobby he collects muscle cars and now has over 20 cars.
John Cena announced his engagement to his girlfriend Elizabeth Huberdeau in 2009. After only 3 years the couple separated when Cena filed for divorce.
Since 2012 he has been dating Nikki Bella a fellow WWE Superstar. He also speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese and has shown his talent clearly in WWE conference in Shanghai.
