Early life

Juan Dixon was born on October 9, 1978 in Baltimore, Maryland. He had a rough childhood growing up and his parents were both heroin addicts. They both died before Juan was even 18 years old from AIDS. His grandparents raised him up and made sure he gets proper education and a bright future.

Dixon grew up with one sister and an older brother. His aunt was the mayor of Baltimore and his half-brother was the guard for the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. His cousin is Brandon Driver, cornerback for the San Jose State Spartans.

To keep his mind away from negativity in his life, he spent most of his time on the court playing basketball.

He attended Lake Clifton High School and later University of Maryland, College Park.

Professional career

During his college days, Juan began training with Gary Williams after he discovered him during one championship. Since his freshman year, Dixon turned heads of other players and coaches, impressing them with his skills and dedication to the game.

Dixon played for his University team for seven years and after few years in the NBA, he returned there to coach young talents for a while. He was named the NCAA Champion and also Final Four Most Outstanding Player. Dixon was also three times All ACC first team selection.

He is the Maryland all-time scoring player and in 2002 he was chosen by the Washington Wizards during the NBA draft. He played for the team for three years and in 2009 he signed a contract with Atlanta Hawks that lasted until 2009.

In between he played for the Portland Trail Blazers for two years, for Toronto Raptors for one year and for Detroit pistons for one season.

After his successful career in the States, Dixon decided to try out his luck on the European continent. He signed a contract with the Greek A1 League and later he joined Unicaja Malaga in Spain. After he has been suspended from the Spain team because of steroid use, he signed a contract with Turkish team Bandirma Banvit.

Dixon then decided to work as a coach and retire from professional basketball career. He coached the Maryland Terrapin team as a special assistant until July last year. He was relieved from his duties for an unknown reason.

Most recently he has been a part of the Bravo TV show Real Housewives of Potomac, so some of his net worth now days, is coming from his appearance on the show.

Personal life

Dixon married his high school sweetheart Robyn Bragg Dixon in 2005 and the couple has two sons together. After few years of living together, they decided that the marriage is not working out and the couple divorced in 2012.

To raise their children together, they decided to continue living under the same roof but still separated. His wife Robyn recently joined the crew of Real Housewives of Potomac so we will probably see more of Dixon’s private life in the following season.

In the past years there were a lot of rumors about the financial situation of the couple, and they even filed for bankruptcy few years earlier.
