Nate Diaz is an American UFC fighter and a mixed martial artist. His estimated net worth is around 2$ million.

Early life

Nathan Donald Diaz was born on April 16, 1985 in Stockton, California, U.S. He grew up in a family with one older brother, Nick and his parents were English-Mexican. His mother is of English descent and his father is Mexican.

Diaz attended the Tokay High School and during his school years he trained martial arts. He fell in love with fighting while watching his older brother, who was also a mixed martial artist. When he finished high school, Nate pretty much knew what he wanted to do in life, and that was to become a mixed martial artist and a professional competitor.

He decided to skip college and to concentrate on his career right after finishing high school. He started training more and preparing himself for the competitions.

Professional career

Nate began his career as a mixed martial artist and he mostly competed in the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC). For several years he competed in the WEC championships and then he decided to transfer to the Zuffa, LLC.

This company was a partner company of the UFC which allowed Nate to start competing in the UFC championship. Nate started competing in a lightweight competition on the Ultimate Fighter 5. His debut was against Rob Emerson that ended with Nate’s victory.

In 2008 he competed in the UFC Fight Night 13 and UFC Fight Night 15. In the following years Nate appeared in total of 30 fights and 19 of them ended with his victory. Nine from his eleven loses were actually done by decision.

In 2012 he earned his black belt in Jiju-Jitsu from Cesar Gracie. Nate was in the center of attention three years ago when he used homophobic slurs on his Twitter account. To punish him for this behavior, the UFC punished him with 20$ thousand.

So far Diaz has earned several awards and some of them are The Ultimate Fighter 5, Fight of the Night for eight times, Knockout of the Night one time, Performance of the Night, 2011 All-Violence First Team, and many more.

Even though he had few loses in his career, Nate has a pretty astonishing UFC fighting record so far. Most of his net worth is coming from the fights and he earns around 50$ thousand and his current estimated net worth is somewhere around 2$ million.

Like many other athletes, Diaz is also supported by different brands and companies. He actually has a 250$ thousand sponsorship with Reebok and from his PPV Share he earns around 10.5$ million. Many celebrities and athletes would normally have millions if it wasn’t for taxes, but when we account them, their net worth gets much lower.

From his Fight of the Night he earned 50 thousand dollar and for the appearance in the Vegas afterparty, Diaz received 150 thousand dollars.

In 2016 Diaz was set for a fight against Conor McGregor. The fight ended by Diaz’s submission and even though Nate received the notice only several weeks before the fight, he showed amazing skills in the ring.

This submission made him the second-most all-time submissions on the UFC list and he was awarded with a Performance of the Night Bonus. In the rematch that was held few months later, Diaz lost the fight by decision.

He is expecting to receive a 2$ million payout for the performance as well as 50 thousand dollars for his Fight of the Night awards.

Together with his brother Nick, Diaz has opened a jiju-jitsu academy in Lodi, California. He and his brother are teaching boys how to fight and prepare them for competitions. This is not only a business opportunity for the talented brothers it is also a chance to pass on some of their knowledge to younger generations.

The academy is called Gracie Fighter 209 and the school’s slogan is simple and inviting and it says “Don’t be scared homie”.  The academy has many students and they offer everybody a free first class, in order to bring closer mixed martial arts to more people.

Personal life

Nate’s older brother Nick Diaz is actually more famous than him. He started his UFC career earlier and gained his popularity by his amazing fights in the UFC. Brothers are running the Gracie Fighter 209 academy together and slowly creating their family business.

Both brothers are well known for their brash personalities and trash talking that is directed to other fighters.

Nate won his first MMA fight when he was only 19 years old and since he started training, Nate rarely made breaks from competing and fighting. Even though they are both fighters, he never had a fight with his brother, and they always got along well.

Some of his favorite fighters are the Gracies, Ninja, Shogun Rua and Murilo Bustamante. Nate is currently single and his private life has always been well hidden from the public eye. We only know that his brother, Nick, actually gave him the advice not to get any girl pregnant.

Seems like Nate likes to listen to his brother, and we have yet to see which lucky girl will be this talented athlete’s choice for life.
