Early life
Stephen Gilchrist Glover was born on June 13, 1974 in London, U.K. His parents are English-American ancestry. His grandfather was a voice over announcer Wayne Howel. Steve-O often changed his residence due to his father’s work. His father was in the presidency of Pepsi-Cola. When Steve-O was nine his family returned to England where he attended American School in London.
He was a big fan of Mötley Crüe and when they had concert in London, he phoned every hotel to find out where they are staying. The manager of the band was so impressed with his love for the band, that he agreed a meeting with the band and offered Steve-O to hang out in the backstage with them.
He went to University of Miami for one year, and then dropped out because of his poor grades and bad behavior. He attended the University of Mexico after finally graduating from Ringling Brothers & Bailey Clown College in 1997. He then performed as a clown on flea markets.
Jackass career
Steve-O taped his performances on the flea market and began sending them to the Big Brother Magazine editor Jeff Tremaine. Tremaine decided that Steve-O had what it takes to join the Jackass crew and called him. MTV’s TV show was adored by the audience and MTV released 5 movies that were based on the Jackass series.
After first Jackass movie three more movies were released afterwards, and mostly all of them found their devoted audience that couldn’t get enough of this crazy crew.
Jackass movies were something never seen before, and the crew certainly took their game to the next level compared to the TV Jackass series.
The movie was released on DVD’s and it continues to be one of the most viewed movies of all time, not so much for the artistic segments as much as for the crazy plot the Steve-O and his crew gave us. A sequel was released afterwards because of the great success of the first part, and it followed the Jackass tour.
After Jackass, Steve-O co-starred with Chris Pontius on Wildboyz until 2006. He also has a shoe collection which he promoted himself in a commercial. Steve-O is widely known for his bad behavior and during one TV show he decided to do something memorable.
He urinated during the show in front of the live studio audience. He was a part of the British reality show Love Island in 2006 but he left the show in July 2006 because he didn’t receive chocolate and beer that he asked for.
In 2007 he starred in his own show called Dr. Steve-O on USA Network and appeared on the National Lampoon’s TV: The Movie.
In 2008 he promoted his new album called “Hard as rock”. Something that maybe wouldn’t make you think about Steve-O instantly is veganism. He decided to change his eating habits and focus more on promoting animal rights.
He earns most of his money by performing stand-up comedy and in 2013 he launched his YouTube channel. In 2015 the channel had over 3 million subscribers which shows that Steve-O still has a lot of fans rooting for him.
In 2015 Steve-O performed with JOOGSQUAD and appeared in a video on YouTube with The Slow Mo Guys. In 2016 he was a guest in the Rich Roll podcast.
Personal life
Steve-O was married twice. First time with Candy Jane Tucker from in early ‘00s and his second marriage was with Brittany McGraw that lasted two years, from 2006 to 2008. He announced his relationship with Kat Von D in 2016 but the relationship ended after few months.
In 2008 he was admitted to a hospital after his letter to his friends where he suggested he might commit suicide. He was held for 72 hours which was extended for 14 days. The reason why he had these thoughts was because of his bipolar condition and substance addiction.
