Born on 30 August 1989, in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England, he grew up in Hatfield. Absolom Beeney was his great grandfather and was very famous for being one of the bare-knuckle boxers belonging to Romanichal travelling community near Hatfield.

As an amateur boxer, Billy fought for Cheshunt Boxing club and also for the Hoddesdon Boxing Club.

At the age of 18, Billy Joe Saunders was qualified for Summer Olympics in the welterweight division.

Due to his lewd behavior and certain other scandals, he didn’t win medal in any of the competitions and was suspended from participating also.

In December 2008, Billy Joe Saunders turned into a professional boxer and signed his contract with Frank Warren, his promoter.

In May 2011, he scored a second-round impressive knockout victory over his opponent Kevin Hammond.

For the title of the vacant British middleweight, Billy fought with Nick Blackwell.

So far, his boxing record is very impressive. Out of his 23 fights, he had won each one of it.

After defeating Chris Eubank’s son in a fearless fight, Billy Joe has defended Middleweight title.

After injuring his hand during a training session, Billy Joe forced to back off from the WBO Middleweight title for which he was supposed to fight with Max Bursak , at Copper Box,  London on the scheduled date 30 April 2016.

It is expected that he will recover and will make a comeback in his boxing career.
