Danny Glover is a well-known American actor, producer, film director and an activist.

Early life     

Danny Glover was born on July 22, 1946. in San Francisco in a family of black activists.

His parents were members of „ National Assocciation for the Advancement of Colored People“ so he was raised to be a proud black and to fight for equal rights.

He went to George Washington High School and later went to college but never gratuated.

He was a member of the „Black Actors Workshop“ at the American Conservatory Theatre.

In his early childhood and teenage years he fought with epilepsy but the seizures disappeared by themselves in his 30-s.

Career development 

His first job wasn’t in the theatre but in the city administration.  As soon as he found out he’s not made for that job he quited and decided to preform on stage.

He moved to Los Angeles because he taught it would be easier to get success there.

After performing in the theatre came his first famous role in the film “Lethal Weapon“ alongside Mel Gibson. The movie had great critics and he started to be noticed.

„Lethal Weapon“ became a huge hit and gave him great popularity.

A more serious role was the one in „The Color Purple“ with Whoopi Goldberg where he showed great character acting.

The films that gave him complete financial security were   „Predator“ and „Predator 2“.

He tried himself in producing and directing several movies, all with success, for example „Just a Dream“ and „Toussaint“.

He also gave voice to many children’s movie characters.

He tried himself in many genres, even made a famous horror film „Saw“.

A lot of his films were about  real people problems, getting justice done and equality issues. 

Political activism and philantropic work  

Even as a student he fought for the rights of the black students in the University.

Later on he supported „United Farm Workers“ and was trying to help them to continue working in manufacturing without reduced pay.

He endorsed democrats and Barack Obama and didn’t approve George Bush because of his rascism. He is still active in politics all arround the globe: in Nigeria he is a member of TransAfrica Forum and was among the first to help the victims of Haiti earthquake.

He is a great critic of the Iraq War and an admiror of Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez who invested in his film productions.

Personal life:

He married his first wife Asake Bomani in 1975. and she gave birth to their one daughter Mandisa in 1976.

Later on they got divorced and  in 2009. he married a brazilian teacher Eliane Cavalleiro.

One of the important things in his life is jazz music, so he is a member of the board of directors of The American Jazz Foundation.
