Early life
It has been a long practice for the rappers to make an identification of their departing from the early lineage. 6lack was no exception to this rule. He is Ricardo Valdez Valentine born on 24th June 1992 at Baltimore, Maryland, United States of America.
Later he was raised in Atlanta, Georgia as he moved from his birthplace with his parents when he was a boy of 5 years. He holds the American nationality with the Black ethnicity. It was heard that perhaps Ricardo’s father was a rapper himself and has a recording studio whereas his mother is a dentist. Though the world does not the name of his siblings as it never heard the name of his parents, the rapper has two younger siblings.
From the very early childhood, Ricardo has a deep inclination towards music. While in the middle school he experienced the rap for the first time. As the days went by his attention gradually concentrated on the rapping world. During his teenage days, while studying at the high school, he fixed his aim to be one successful rapper along with his most prominent rappers. Clearing the school campus, he got into Valdosta State University to gather a degree in computer science. But the pull of the raps was so enormous that the university degree failed to convenience 6lack to stay back and gather bookish knowledge for lucrative employment. Ricardo preferred to be 6lack one day and went out of the university to pursue a career in songs and raps. The R&B artists Usher and Sade he learned about singing. Career
He began with the battle rap but soon realized that it wouldn’t serve him in the long run. He got into a group named Team Flight which fail to pull back its members and was later disbanded. To improve his situation, he started releasing singles on the SoundCloud secretly which does not work out at all. He recorded his music for some time in the kitchen. He was struggling to learn music and in 2009 came up with his first successful recording. While he was learning to sing with various experiments an offer came from the Interscope Records which he warmly accepted. After the deal, 6lack gave his voice for his debut single ‘Ex Calling’ which was released in 2016. The effect was not impressive for the followers of rap and the artist as well.
Then came the day, for which 6lack was waiting long. His ‘Prblms’ hit the shore of the rap world, and he gained huge popularity within a week or two. Nothing can be better than this for his breakthrough. In the United States, his ‘Prblms’ had reached the Platinum with a massive sale of over one million copies. 6lack was writing his song along with Jeryn Peters and Mathew Barnes. The album contains a track ‘Irby Tremor’ originally composed by Forest Swords. On the Billboard Hot 100 it reached 72, and on the Hot Hip-Hop Songs, the track reached 34th rank. On-demand on the YouTube officially a music video was uploaded, and till date, it was viewed more than 48 million times.
In November 2016 his debut album ‘Free 6lack’ was released through Interscope Records. The production of the album was controlled by 6lack himself with the assistance of Breyan Issac, Fank Dukes, Dot da Genius, Jared Gagarin and few more personalities. Along with ‘Prblms’ and ‘Irby Tremor,’ the album has 11 tracks with music for 47 minutes. The other tracks which are also given their due recognition include ‘Luving U,’ ‘Worst Luck,’ ‘Never Know,’ ‘Learn Ya,’ ‘Alone/EA6’ and “Getting’ Old.” The album got a decent acknowledgment from the rap lovers and hence reached 34th rank on the Billboard Top 200 on its release. After a couple of weeks, the album hit 11th rank on the Top R&B Albums, and another chart of Top Rap Albums got 5th rank.
The popularity rose high within few days of release. Apart from his successful album 6lack had joined hand with Jhene Aiko, the American rapper, to release few singles. With Jhene he released ‘First F*uck’ and ‘That Far,’ ‘Bless Me’ and ‘Loyal’ were his endeavor. To promote his debut album 6lack had gone for a world trip which had concluded on 29th November 2017 in Florida. 6lack had reached a reasonable height in this short span of his music endeavor. Rolling Stone recognized the upcoming rapper as ‘One of the 10 New Artists to Watch For’. In 2017 6lack had released one single which got the Platinum.
Personal life
6lack has not revealed anything which falls in the personal domain. But on his Instagram account, 6lack posted a photo of his daughter. The father named her Rose. Quite amazingly the rapper has not yet claimed any relationship to anyone.
