Anatii is one of the most popular South African musician, producer and a singer (rapper) who is considered as one of the most influental young artists in South Africa.

Early years

He was born as Anathi Bhongo Mnyango on January 8, 1993 in a town Bisho, which was the capital of one South African Province. The name of the province was Eastern Cape.

His parents were involved in many businesses, one of them was a clothing boutique. He lived in London when he was just a little kid.

The family relocated to Johannesburg and his father died soon after that. Anatii was only 15 at that time.

He started writing lyrics and producing music for many SA artists. The knowledge about his skills came to the ears of L-Tido who hired him to produce his “When It Rains” hit.

He wrote a single called “Hours” and performed it featuring Mika Means. This was a huge hit, and even entered USA charts.

He received a Hip Hop Award in 2015 for the best music video for „The Saga“ feat. AKA.

He came to limelight with his debut album named „Artiifact“ from 2016. The album has a lot of guest appearances of known South African musicians such as Cassper Nyovest and Uhuru.

Other than them, there were guests from other countries: Tiwa Savage from Nigeria, Fuaarow from Canada and Omarion from America.

He received the title of „The Young Independents influencer“ in the summer of 2017.

Due to his great taste in fashion he was titled as the best dressed man in 2017 by „Gentlemen’s Quarterly“ magazine.

He was chosen as a significant member for the „LuQuLuQu“ project concerning refugees.

In 2017 he released a CD, also available on digital download, of his album „Be Careful What You Wish For“. It was published by a known record label called YAL Entertainment. He is very involved in his Xhosa culture and considers him as a Xhosa man. He received a traditional ceremony of initiation called „Ulwaluko“ and he sings about it in his single „Thixo Onofefe“.

In 2015, his hit song „The Saga“ came to No.1. on Itunes. His favorite snickers are Adidas Yeezy.

He became known to the hip hop scene when he was a 16-year old teenager although he started rapping way earlier.

He first became a known songwriter and a producer for others before he made his own rapping career.

In 2009 he wrote lyrics and produced a song named „When It Rains“ for a rapper L-Tido.

Words about his great work came even to America, so he was called to collaborate with DJ Khaled on his „Bananaz“.

His father was a DJ and he passed his love for music to Anatti. A lot of his amily members were involved in music: his granny was in a choir and his sister is also a musican but she resides in the United States.

AKA released a diss track called „Composure“ in which he claims that Anatii charges an unreasonably high fee for producing beats.

Anatii produced his first song in the 4th grade, at the age of nine.

His first stage name was „Thundacat“ which eventually changed in Anathi Royale until it became „Anatii“.

He was involved in creation of songs for „Summer Yama Summahh“ album, released in 2009 Coca Cola campaing.

He started his own record label called YAL Entertainment and is very successful in his producing work.

He was also invovled in producing some beats for FiFA Confederations Cup the same year.

Ma Nala finished music college in California.
