Early Life
Carly Sonenclar was born on April 20, 1999, in the New York City, the United States to Bob Sonenclar and Terri Edelman Sonenclar. She always has been very fond of music and singing and started taking lessons at the tender age of two. She always loved making impressions of the popular contestants on the American Idol. Due to her interest in the same, she started taking lessons for the same, including piano and even acting classes.
She belongs to a Jewish family and has an older brother who recently graduated from the University of Delaware. It was one of her teacher who signed up Carly to one of the popular talent agencies in NY City who promptly signed her. She has always expressed that the only sport that she loves is softball and currently is taken piano lessons as well because she loves the harmony it creates.
Career
It was Carly’s acting career that started prior to her singing career. Her first professional was in the stage version of the popular The Night of the Hunter which was held at the Musical Theatre Festival New York. She portrayed the protagonist of Pearl. Her Broadway introduction casting was in the popular play Les Miserables in 2006 in which she played the role of Young Cosette.
Prior to her rising popularity in the theatre world, she toured along the cast of Little House on the Prairie, in which she portrayed the role of Carrie. Her debut television appearance was on Gilda Flip which aired on PBS which was produced and sponsored by Sesame Workshop.
It was later in 2011 that Carly was seen portraying the role of Chloe in the famous theatre musical, Wonderland in the Broadway. It was this role that gained her a lot of critical reviews from some of the most well knows critics, including Charles Isherwood, the popular The New York Times Magazine critic. Isherwood described her as an amazing actress and singer.
Apart from theatres and television series, she has also featured in two important movies, The Nanny Diaries and The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants 2.
Later in 2012, Carly auditioned in the popular singing competition, The X-Factor where she sang Anthony Newley’s Feeling Good. She got a standing ovation by all the four judges, and she later proceeded to the next stage. She went on to the final stages of the show with all her brilliant performances and finally ranked as the runner up in the show.
She is currently signed to Syco Records and Columbia Records. She then released her first debut song, “Unforgettable” under the label which gained a lot amount of recognition. She has also released yet another original song of hers titled “Fighters.” As of 2016, Carly said that she has been working on some new kinds of tunes.
