Early life
Kevin Yanick Steen was born on May 7, 1984 in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada. He was raised in Quebec by French and Canadian parents. As a child he enjoyed playing different sports and being on the court.
Kevin played Hockey, baseball and soccer. Even though he enjoyed playing all of them with his friends, he never had a dream of becoming a professional played in any of those sports. Instead, he had a dream of one day becoming a professional wrestler.
Owens loved watching Monday Night Raw with his father and impersonating their every move after turning the TV off.
Professional career
He started training when he was only 14 years old with a professional wrestler Serge Jodoin. At the age of 16 he performed his first match and from then on his professional training and career launched off. He lost in his debut match but the first appearance in front of a large crowd only boosted his confidence. In 2004 he appeared for the first time in Combat Zone Wrestling.
He wrestled in the independent circuit for almost 15 years in PWG and earned a title of a PWG World Championship for three times and a Tag Team Championship also for three times.
In his amazing career, Kevin succeeded to become the longest reigning WWE Universal Champion. Owens became one of the most famous wrestlers of our time and we will probably very soon see his name in the hall of fame of professional wrestling.
