Early life

Kyle Petty was born in Randleman, North Carolina, United States of America on 2nd June 1960 as Kyle Eugene Petty. He was born to the famous racer Richard Petty and Lynda Petty.  Kyle Petty was born in the family of supreme drivers and would have been a surprise is had not drove his cars in the racing lane of NASCAR. His father Richard was a successful car racer and proved his supremacy in the car driving by clinching seven times NASCAR Championship in his enlightened career.

In total, he won more than 200 races in his life. Lee Petty who was his grandson was also a legendary car racer winning NASCAR Championship thrice. Kyle was the elder brother of his three sisters Sharon, Rebecca and Lisa.

Career

It was quite natural for the young Kyle to begin car racing career early got in the stock car of a major league when he was only eighteen. With his father’s 1978 Dodge Magnum he competed in the Daytona ARCA 200 and finished first. By doing so, Kyle became the youngest racer to win any major league. Then he entered the racing field with STP Dodge Magnum with #42 to compete in Winston Cup Series at Talladega and finished at ninth after his five races.

In 1980 he started the car fifteen times and finished the race at the top ten six times with 28th place points. He started the next season with No.43 used by his father then switched to his regular No.42 car. In 1982 he opened the season with two top-10s then resorted to splitting, one with No.1 in Hoss Ellington’s car and in his No.42. The season closed with 15 finishing points.

In 1983 the world saw him in No.7 as he got endorsed by 7-Eleven. In 1985 he got under Wood Brothers Racing and made 7 top 5. 1986 saw him winning at Richmond, and in the final standing, he got 10th.

In 1987 he turned to Citgo and won a Charlotte. In 1990 with the Peak he won the North Carolina Speedway by the margin of 26 seconds. In 1991 he met an accident at Talladega and did not compete in 11 races. 1992 saw him winning 2 races and finishing the career-best 5th place. Coors Light started sponsoring in 1995, and Kyle won Miller Genuine Draft 500 at Dover. In 1996 Soundgarden recorded ‘Kyle Petty, son of Richard.’  In 1997 Kyle formed PE2 Motorsports. During his entire career, he won NASCAR eight times. He raced last at Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix.

Personal life

Kyle came across Pattie on his way and got married in 1979. They were blessed with a son on 10th July 1980 whom they named Adam Kyler. Another boy got birth on 24th March 1982, and his parent called him Austin Kemp.

Pattie again gave birth to another child who is their daughter Montgomery Lee Petty on 17th December 1985. The family got a tremendous blow of destiny when their elder son Adam died in a crash in May 2000 during his practice. The life got on its way in the passage of time, but all of a sudden Kyle Petty’s life broke apart from his wife in 2012. Kyle felt it would be tougher on him to drive through the life alone and engaged with Morgan and the two decided to get married on in 2015. He is very active in charity for the children who are terminally ill.

He also took part in Kyle Petty Charity Ride across America. He also came out with some singles as ‘The Other Guy’ and ‘Oh King Richard.’
