Early years

He was born as Webster Gradney Jr, in Baton Rouge in Louisiana in United States on September 6, 1985.

He was only nine years old when his mother died. After that, his father and his mother’s mother (his granny) got joint custody over him so he spent his childhood between those two homes.

He was rapping since he was six and always tried to make up his own rhymes. He became a genuine fan of hardcore rap from East Coast hip hop scene. His role models were Geto Boys, Master P, Schooly and others.  He was always a fan of hardcore Southern rappers, and Eightball & MJG, UGK and DjTrillReed were his favorites.

He missed his mother a lot, although the family tried to make him feel secured. He found comfort in music but eventually he found friends in the hood who became like family. This turned Webbie into a more hard and insensitive person who only wanted to succeed.

He was signed to Boosie BadAzz’s record label and is signed to Asylum Records, Atlantic Records, Trill Entertainment and Warner Bros.

Personal life

Webbie was always very stubborn and was often engaged in fights and arguments. He didn’t have any respect for the police or law inforcement, and he always thought less about women in general.

He came to the yellow pages yet again after he was arrested abd afterwards charged for robbery and battery: he (allegedelly) pushed a woman down the stairs and stole money from her purse, around $300.

In 2008, he was arrested for fast driving that even ended in a high-speed police chase. The police later discovered that he was driving under the influence of alcochol and narcotics. He was also involved in an argument with police officers. He was influenced by drugs but nevertheless the police officers stated that he was extremely violent and used derogatory words.

In 2011, Webbie was arrested because of drug possession after the police pulled him over in his car after a concert. This means that he was already “high” while he performed at his concert.

In 2017 he was arrested again in Baton Rouge because of the charges made by his girlfriend who claimed that she was abused, both physically and verbally. It happened in the hotel room where Webbie and his entourage came.

His girlfriend ended up with a fractured nose and had signs of belt on her thighs and the back of her body. The police took her pictures and found out that her statements were consistent with her story of assault.

He also took her cell phone and damaged the hotel room. The workers of the hotel called the police when they received calls from other hotel clients that heard the noise and rough.

Although he lived in Baton Rouge for a long time, he decided to relocate to Atlanta. This is the main city for all important rappers of that area.

His friend Boosie BadAzz released a music video in tribute of Webbie called “Webbie I remember”. The video contains black-and-white photos of both Lil’ Boosie and Webbie from their beginnings until their latest career moves.

Webbie got baptized on Easter Sunday in 2015 and joined he crew “The Rickey Smiley Mornings Show” in their morning praise. Most of his fans think this is all publicity stunts in order to redeem himself after his wrongful behaviour and jail time.
