Early life

Undoubtedly the rapper had earned a big name in his career, but he has been named as Antwan André Patton by his parent when he was born on 1st February 1975. The 43-year-old rapper was born in Savannah, Georgia, United States of America. He holds the American nationality and belongs to Afro-American ethnicity. There is very little known about his parents, but it is known that the rapper grew up with his three brothers Jason, James, and Marcus. To get his education, he was enrolled in Herschel V. Jenkins High School.

He spent his early childhood days at the place where he was born and then on attaining teenage went to stay with his aunt Renne who was staying at Atlanta. From his early days, he had a very keen interest in music and wanted to pursue a career in the same field. Both the aspirants of hip-hop music started practicing their music at ‘The Dungeon.’ While two friends were improving further, Rico was trying to arrange an audition for these two rappers. One day he managed an audition for Patton and Andre before “L.A.” Reid. Reid had formed LaFace along with Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. The two friends did not match the expectation of Reid as perhaps the gem creator might have spotted the jewel but wanted more brilliance from the duo. The two friends started practicing with more intensity at ‘Atlanta’s Organized Noize’ with their lyrics and compositions.

After some days they appeared before Reid and earned his confidence. Reid wanted to get into a contract with the two rappers, but their age came in between as a hindrance.
