B-Legit is a known American rapper, whose real name is Brandt Jones, but he is sometimes called Hash Brown Billo or The Savage.

He is widely  known by his collaboration with 2Pac on his “All Eyes on Me” album.

He is considered as one of the pioneers of new rap genre called “Mobb Music”.

Early life:

Brandt Jones was born on January 13, 1968 in the city of Vallejo in California, USA.

He went to the General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo Senior High School from which he graduated in 1986. He never found himself in the education system and always knew he wad going to be a part of the music industry.

During his schooling he showed his interest in music and instruments. That resulted in his membership in Vallejo High School marching band. The band was his way of relaxing and finding new friends.

After finishing high school he enrolled Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana. However, he wasn’t really all about it and was looking forward to make music in his spare time.

Career development:

He was always interested in music and rapping so he joined his cousins rap group called just “The Click”. His cousin, E-40, formed the group and Suga-T, D-Shot and B-Legit became the members of this quartet.

Although he collaborated with many known artists and rappers, his most rememberable collaboration was on the single “Ain’t Hard 2 Find” made with one of the most famous rappers ever: Tupac Amaru Shakur. It was released on his most popular album “All Eyez on Me”. This has brought him a lot of fame because Tupac was and still is one of the most popular rappers in the world.

B-Legit had signed several record label contracts during his career, some of them were independent, some not. But they were all major labels such as: Sick Wid It, Jive and Koch Records.

He collaborated and worked with numerous artists: Snoop Dogg, Jadakiss, Mac Dre, Scarface, Master P, Paul Wall and many more. All of these collaborations windened his fanbase because the artists he collaborated with were more popular than him in 90% of the collabs. He gained fans from different music genres and this made sure his future career will proceed smoothly.

The group released four albums, and at the same time B-Legit has built his own solo career. The other members of the group had no problem with him going solo.

B-Legit decided to release his debut album entitled “Tryin’ to Get a Buck” in 1993. It had moderate success but it opened the door to bigger tracks.

After that, he released a few albums and the 1996 album called “The Hemp Museum” was the best of them not only by remarkable rhymes but because it featured many great rappers: E-430, Suga-T, Kurupt and Celly Cell.

This album was a big success and it peaked at #15 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop chart. Some critics praise the album because of it’s producers Mike Mosley and Tone Capone.

In 2000, he released a new album “Hempin’ Ain’t Easy”. It was one more success in the row, but not as popular as his previous album.

B-Legit left “The Click” in 2001.

After that came “Hard 2 B-Legit” in 2002 and “Block Movement” in 2005.

In 2007 he released not one, but two albums: “Coast 2 Coast” and “Throwblock Music”.

After two decades of work, Brandt got off the radar and wasn’t releasing tracks and albums. He decided to dedicate to his personal life and relax. Many people think that he was in a depression during the period Tupac died and the music industry began changing.

In 2015 he came back with two great albums:” Game Is To Be Sold” and “What We Been Doin’ “.

Personal life:

It is hard to find some informations about his private life or family. He is probably trying to keep his family away from the media as much possible.

Also, the only information about his private life is the one you find online since this rapper doesn’t really engage in social media.

He also refused to give interviews after his retirement. People think he is disappointed by today’s music and doesn’t want to engage in it anymore.
