Stick with us if you would like to find out what his net worth, career path and personal life is all about, and also if you would like to know more about the history of this popular video game.
Early Years
Jens Bergensten was born on May 18th 1979 in Swedish town Orebro. Jens grew up with his mother Shanna Kolheden and father Stigbjorn Bergensten.
His parents always supported his love for video games, and they knew that young Jens will become someone important one day.
From an early age, Jens enjoyed spending time on the computer, playing video games, but he was also a good student in school. All those characteristics later helped him to become what he is today.
Jen’s relationship with his parents is extremely close. He still likes to go to Sweden and visit them, although he has to travel a lot due to his job. His brother Robin Bergensten was his video game partner in most cases.
Besides a brother, Jens also has a sister, and she is currently living in Australia. Jens got into programming pretty early on, so with only 11 years old, he began taking interest in that area of technology.
In the beginning, he used Pascal and Basic as his first programming languages, and this made him into one of the most famous programmers in the world.
As a young programmer, Jens found a book that he immediately took interest in. The book was called Black Art of 3D Game Programming, and by sing this book, he managed to create his very first video game. The book was very inspiring for Jens, and he admits to reading the book even today from time to time.
Since there is no more info on his early years, we are going to continue on talking about his net worth, career path and little about his personal life.
Career Path
Since he was very successful in his programming, Jens had no trouble finding a job. With only 21 years, he was able to find a job in a Swedish company called ID Software. He worked in a company as a modder and as a rapper. The game he was working on at the time is Quake II Arena.
The next job he ventured on was the job at the Oblivion Entertainment. He started working as a developer and really gained a lot of work experience in that company.
One of his biggest projects, while at the company, was the game Whispers in Akarra. His work was astonishing, so he soon received many new job offers all around.
When the company went bankrupt, Jens decided to move to Malmo and get a degree in computer science, which then allowed him to search for even higher paid jobs. While at the university, he also started his own company called Oxeye Game Studio that worked on game development as well.
After founding the company he started working on video games and soon he became interested in creating something on his own.
While creating his first game, he wanted to do something different which would allow people to think outside the box and become more creative. His first game was called Cobalt and it came out in 2006. His second game was called Harvest: Massive Encounter that was released in 2008.
The Mojang Company, that released the previous two games, saw immense talent that Jens had, so they put him in charge of developing Minecraft.
Jens completely changed the whole atmosphere of the game and made it into something new. Since that moment, Jens became one of the best game developers and is still one of the best in the game. Minecraft was at one point the bestselling game ever, and it has earned billions for the Mahjong Company.
This company was later on bought by Microsoft. Jens net worth is somewhere around 15$ million and still on the rise.
Surely you have heard many times the name of Minecraft in your homes. Since the block game was released on computer at the end of 2011, children, teenagers and adults have surrendered to the game developed by Mojang, but what is Minecraft?
Maybe you are a little lost on what exactly it is, we explain it to you. Minecraft is an open world video game where exploration and constructions are essential.
Created by Markus “Notch” Persson, it allows us to develop our own fantastic and artistic universes, by placing and destroying blocks. Being an open-world videogame, it does not have a specific mission (except for some of its game modes) and consists of free construction through the use of cubes with three-dimensional textures.
The blocks represent different elements of nature and the player can move around their environment and modify it by creating, collecting and transporting those blocks. Two equal worlds are never generated, because they are created through the use of algorithms.
It is the main mode. We have to get resources and survive the attack of multiple creatures that arise in the dark, until we manage to defeat the dragon. Our character has ten hearts of life to achieve his goal.
The rules of the game are set by us and we can build freely. We have unlimited resources of all the blocks and objects of the game. We are not attacked by any monster, nor do we receive any damage.
Designed for players who are dedicated to creating maps for other users. We cannot break blocks to make constructions, we can only break them if we have the right tool. In some versions, the difficulty cannot be modified. Spectator Mode: if they kill us, we can continue playing, but we can watch the game.
Minecraft is a very useful game to start the chic @ s in the world of programming since you see some Java code, especially when it comes to modifying the classes of the characters, creating variables and conditions. Mods are the way to teach them code easily. In addition, to play in multiplayer mode, we can learn to create our own servers.

Markus “Notch” Persson has already become a little legend in the world of video games. He is the creator of Minecraft, a mass phenomenon that has hooked millions of people around the world. Now, a new book tells its story and details unexpected turns. Markus “Notch” Persson is not only the creator of Minecraft, he also surprises us every bit with…
Persson rejected a job offer in Valve. Valve is probably one of the most respected and admired game developer studios. The idea that Markus Persson could have joined the company would have been great news especially for Valve. She offered him a position, Persson rejected him.
It is explained in the book Minecraft: The Unlikely Tale of Markus ‘Notch’ Persson and the Game that Changed Everything, of which All Things D reproduces an excerpt. The book had been published in 2011 in Swedish, but now the first edition comes out in English (not yet in Spanish).
The chapter published by All Things D details Notch’s visit to Valve in 2010, a visit that could have had a huge impact on the video game sector if Valve had had his way. It is not news that the company offered him a position, it had been rumored long ago, but it is the first time there are confirmed details about what happened.
In 2010 Minecraft was just taking off, it had not yet become the global phenomenon it is today. Persson received a call from Valve, who invited him to the company’s headquarters in Bellevue, Washington (Persson asked to fly first class, by the way).
The visit triggered a job offer. Phenomenon More than 20 million copies in just over a year. It is the impressive figure that has reached…
Persson told Valve’s human resources manager that he “was not used to working in a team,” but he insisted: “you are a programmer with a gift,” he said, according to the book.
Persson, in which he says it was one of the most difficult decisions of his life, rejected the job offer. “I thought that Minecraft was perhaps my chance to create a Valve instead of working for Valve.” In a way he has succeeded.
