Early Life

Jill Scott was born on 4th April 1972 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States of America. She was found to be interested the in the poetry of Nikki Giovanni while she was only reading in the 8th grade. She was raised by her single mother and her grandmother, and this made her get passionate to earn a living at a young age. She was quite inspired by the works of Nikki Giovanni and soon started to work with Scott and started joining authors like Octavia Cooper and many other personalities. She started developing a deep passion for music and started composing some of the beautiful numbers.

She started taking the subject of jazz seriously and started learning much about the techniques and the style. Jill was known for her poetic abilities and attended the famous institution named Temple University. She was interested in becoming a respectable teacher. Soon she decided to leaves the college and started taking an interest in drama apprenticeship. She was soon interested in taking part in the Canadian touring Production titled “Rent.” She understood that there was a repetition of the performance and thought of leaving the musical stage show in the year 1999. Scott decided to make her works get started with Questlove belonging to the Hip Hop group “The Root.” She started co-writing some of the hit songs titled “You Got Me” that exclusively won a Grammy for being a rap performance. She started working with eminent producers and the famous songwriter Jeff Townes. In 2000, she came up with debut full-length album titled “Who Is Jill Scott? : Words and Sounds, Vol. 1 along with the featured music albums like “A Long Walk” and the other one being “Getting’ in the Way.”  All appreciated the album, and soon it earned a great way to success. It was even selected by the Billboard charts under the category of top 20 and even received nominations from Grammy.

Scott came up with her next release that was a studio album “Beautifully Human: Words and Sound Vol 2. Scott was soon positioned as a lead person of the group neo-soul and “Soulquarian” that was considered to be a movement. She went for making her next film release titled “Big Mama Thornton in Hounddog that starred Dakota Fanning and was showcased at the event of Cannes in the year 2007. She was assembled by the two other prominent artists Perry and Jannet Jackson.

She began with her next enormous project where she was elected to be the lead artist in the year 2009 in the channel HBO. It was an adaptation of the novel titled “The No. 1 Ladies” Detective Agency that was along with the eminent character Anthony Mingehellla. Anthony was involved in handling the directorial duties. Personal Life

Scott was previously engaged to Lil’ John Roberts, and the couple together gave birth to their son Jett Hamilton Roberts. But with the passage of time, confusions started creeping in, and the couple went for a separation.

Soon enough she was married to Lyzel Williams, but things never went well, and it needed up in a divorce. Later she goes got married to Mike Dobson. The couple is happily married to each other, and there is no such rumor of Scott getting divorced one again.
