Joseph Prince is a known Singapore pastor and a co-founder of New Creation Church in Singapore. He is one of the most famous Singapore celebrities.
Early life:
Joseph Prince was born as Xenonamandar Jegahusiee Singhin on May 15, 1963 in Singapore but he grew up in Perek, Malaysia where he spent almost all his childhood and teen years.
While he was in secondary school he used to stammer but afterward he challenged and resolved this problem.
His father is a Sikh priest from India and his mother is from China so he was raised in a religious environment. He said that during his childhood he was very much into peaceful hobbies and never was a hyperactive child. He claims that his religion guided him.
A Sikh believes in one immortal being and ten great Guru’s and is connected with Punjab region where this monotheistic religion is spread the most.
One of the things he later said for his father is that he was “an often drunk Sikh priest.”
His birth name created him many problems so he decided to change it when he older. He made it easier to pronounce after he got himself a job in the IT sector. Joseph Prince was his new name as he became an IT consultant.
When he was 17 he had some issues with the way his was going so he felt in depression and begin to be interested in occult. He eventually healed himself with the help of faith.
He attended Commonwealth Secondary School and went on to finish his A levels at a private school, Our Lady of Lourdes.
In 1984 he was a member of a youth ministry in a traditional which they eventually left because they wanted more freedom in worshiping the Christ.
His new literature became the teachings of a known evangelist called Kenneth Hagin and the literature written by an Asian preacher Watchman Knee.
These were the beginnings of New Creation Church and his life as a preacher.
Career development:
Joseph was always a great believer so he founded the New Creation Church with a few of other believers. This took place in 1983.
He got himself appointed as a senior pastor in 1990. He was very popular amiongst the congregation because of his preaching abbilities. During the time he was one of the leaders, the New Creation Church congregation grew very much in means of the largening number of her members. This number continues to widen and continues to grow daily since the new time is bringing much more questions.
He is an owner of his own website connected to his non-profit organization Joseph Prince Ministries, Inc. The main goal of this organization is to inspire people with gospel and take them closer to grace. He wants to help people, as he claims, and introduce them to a new level of thankfulness.
Joseph published his main book called “Destined to Reign: The secret to effortless success, wholeness and victorious living”.
His theology is based on the theory of hypergrace and he has developed the theory very carefully for a long time.
He became very famous in Asia but after a while he started to visit other countries such as Australia, Great Britain, USA….He started preaching in the churches of those countries and his “Hypergrace” theory finally came alive.
He launched his own TV program called “Destined to Reign” and due to his popularity he now broadcasts in over in 150 countries all over the world. He also launched the same TV program through online services in order to reach as many households as he can.
He is a known publisher and besides books, he also publishes CD’s of religious content ( such as “A Touch of his Presence”) and DVD’s with his preachings. He loves working with his audience and he says that it’s the thing that fulfills him the most.
In 2006 he was one of the chosen preachers for the “Grace & Favour Seminar” which was kept at Hillsong Church in both Sydney and London. He repeated this experience in 2007 and 2008 because of the big interest he brought.
In 2008 Prince was involved in s controversy due to the fact that it was discovered that the New Creation Church paid him a great amount of money for his work in the church.
In 2009 the Church stated that Prince doesn’t get paid from them any more, due to other earnings he has. That means that today he works for New Creation Church on a voluntary basis.
He was invited to speak at the “Hope Conference” which was held in Johannesburg in South Africa back in 2009.
The same year his book called “Destined to Reign: The secret to effortless success, wholeness and victorious living” made it to the Top 100 Religious Books which is a great accomplishement for any preacher.
In 2010, he published his second book named “Unmerited Favor” and the book was published by Charisma House and distributed all over the world.
In 2010, Joseph Prince was on the cover of Charisma magazine and the papers gave a big introduction to Prince, his ministry and his preaching.
In 2011 Prince was invited to preach for the first time ever, in a very important Lakewood Church in Texas, whose preachers are amongst the most respected ones.
His first US preaching tour was held in 2011 and it was named “Power of Right Believing”.
Personal life:
Joseph Prince married his wife Wendy Prince in 1994 and they have a very warm and peaceful marriage. He says that he feels very lucky for her wife.
They have met in church and today she is a volunteer at the church. She takes care about his looks and clothes, and is always engaged in creative business of the church.
They have a daughter and a son, Jessica Shayna and Justin David Prince. He takes care of his children in the best ways he can, but the environment is sometimes very challenging, he claims.
