Bubba the love sponge (formerly named Todd Alan Clem) is a radio commentator, producer and actor of American origin, born and brought up in Warsaw,Indiana.

His estimated net worth is $4 million.

Early life

Todd Alan Clem officially changed his name to Bubba the Love Sponge in 1999 – a nickname given to him by a fellow DJ.

He completed his basic schooling at Indiana state university. His first step into the world of radio was through WISU-FM, which was a non-commercial educational radio station.

After his schooling days, his first paying job was at WGRD radio station situated in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His career only saw a high rise from that point on.

Career

Bubba was hired by 98 rock radio station in the year 1996, to present his own segment in the morning time slot. This is how his highly acclaimed show “Bubba the Love Sponge“ came into being. He hosted the show from his own facility in Tampa, Florida.

The show was syndicated for the first time in January 2001. It went on to be aired in various regions across such as Jacksonville, Hartford, Orlando,  Ft. Myers, Wichita, Shreveport, West Palm Beach, XM Satellite Radio, and Macon.

This show attracted all the attention and made him a top-rated media figure. This was when Howard Stern approached and offered Bubba to join him to the launch of his Sirius Satellite Radio which was to take place on January 9, 2006. This show was broadcast nationally during noon time on weekdays, on the channel named Howard 101.

Clem then went on to broadcast a live show in the morning from Tampa radio station named WHPT 102.5 “The Bone” from January 8 of the year 2008. During the second quarter of the year 2008, Bubba’s show took the place of number one in terms of rating in his hometown and center point of his marketing, Tampa.

This ultimate Radio star decided to bring out a DVD called the Bubba Raw Vol 1 in the year 2008. This was a hit among his fans, self-proclaimed as the Bubba Army. Bubba Raw Vol 1 was a mix of  celebrity appearances and  stunt performances.

On January 3, 2010, Bubba announced on his Twitter account that he had signed with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling as one of their backstage interviewers. This was first aired the following day after his official announcement. This show consisted of about three-hour footage in the Monday night edition of TNA Impact!, structured into four short backstage segments.

A year later exactly, he announced his next show – an internet show this time on RadioIO and featured various programme segments during the entire day starting from January 10 in the year 2011.

His career as mentioned above in the chronological order has seen a steady rise with a great response to his shows. In spite of all this, there is another darker side to this. There has been noticed a barrage of sexual as well as ethical misconduct on his behalf in various aspects. These instances have occurred on his show sometimes and hence had a negative impact on it. He was immediately fired by the station. Clem then worked for a brief period WLUM-FM in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

On January 27, 2004, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued a legal notice for airing segments of “Bubba the Love Sponge” and hence allowing the inclusion of graphic discussions about sex and drugs.

Clem was hence fired from Clear Channel on February 23, 2004. And this was a pitiful sight, as once this man was responsible for having the top-ranked show in the 18 to 54-year-old demographics in Tampa, which is an accomplishment to be taken note of.

One more complaint against Clem is the animal cruelty case for abusing a boar. He and his partners were accused of this but acquitted in the end. The list of negative publicity goes on with a sex tape of his ex-wife and Hulk Hogan, tampering allegations, and various other critical lawsuits.

Personal life

Clem has a sister named Tara Clem who didn’t get along with her brother because of his bullying attitude from childhood days. This somehow faded over the years, and Clem soon realized his sister’s real worth and asked her to join his show for voice-overs and imaging work.

He was married to Heather Clem on January 14, 2007, at First Baptist Church of St. Petersburg. They decided to part ways due to the straining relationship and went on to file a divorce with Heather on September 15, 2011.
