Early life

Kevin Norwood Bacon was born on July 8, 1958, in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has 5 brothers and sisters. Kevin mother, Ruth Hilda, was a teacher and liberal activist. His father, Edmund Norwood Bacon was famous American urban architect and the Executive Director of the Philadelphia City Planning Commission.

Kevin showed his act talent at the very earliest age. He attended the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts, at Bucknell University where he won a full scholarship. He also attended at the Manning Street Actor’s Theatre in Philadelphia and the Circle in the Square Theatre School in New York City’s Greenwich Village.

Personal life

During the 1980s, Kevin was in a five-year relationship with an American actress Tracy Jo Pollan.

On the set of Lemon Sky, Kevin met actress and producer, Kyra Sedgwick. He married her on September 4, 1988. They have son Travis ( 1989 ) and daughter Sosie ( 1992 ).

Kevin claims that he is an atheist, but not an anti-religion person.

Acting career

Kevin’s acting debut was in the comedy film National Lampoon’s Animal House ( 1978 ). He played the role of a Chip Diller. Still, this movie didn’t give him a fame.

During the 1980s his career started to go uphill. The first noticeable role he has in the slasher film Friday the 13th, where he played Jack Burrell. Two years later, he played in the drama movie Forty Deuce, which give him an Obie Award.

Kevin’s Broadway debut was the role in The Salb Boys Trilogy. His partners were Sean Penn and Val Kilmer. Still, his first breakout was the role of Timothy Fenwick in the comedy-drama movie Diner. This success leads him to another significant role in the musical drama film Footloose. This movie was box office hit. Bacon’s role of a rebellious teenage boy Ren McCormack made him a pop culture icon.

During the 1990s he filmed comedy/horror film Tremors, where he played Valentine “Val” McKee, a local hero who saved the town from monsters. Then he has a role in the sci-fi psychological horror Flatliners.

Another of his significant role was the play in the historical legal-conspiracy thriller – JFK, directed by Oliver Stone. Bacon portrayed gay prostitute Willie O’Keefe.

Kevin co-starred with Meryl Streep in the thriller The River Wild, after which he been nominated for a Golden Globe.

After it seems that Kevin appeared in every memorable Hollywood movie. He also played in the drama thriller film Murder In The First  and legal crimem movie Sleepers.

Kevin have director experience. His director debut was movie Losing Chase. This film has been nominated for three Golden Globe Award. He has been the executive producer of Wild Things ( 1998 ).
