Early life
Keanu Charles Reeves was born on September 2, 1964 in the capital city of Lebanon – Beirut.
His has English, Chinese, Portuguese, and Hawaiian ancestry, as his mother is English costume designer Patricia Bond and father is Hawaiian geologist Samuel Nowlin Reeves. Keanu has two sisters: younger Kim and half sister Karina.
Keanu has complicated childhood. His parents separated when he was 3 years old and he had a few stepfathers changes. Last time when Keanu saw his father, was when he was 13 years old, due to father’s issues with drug dealing. Keanu moved with his mother from place to place and finally settled up in Toronto. As his mother has a few marriages, Keanu is raised up by nannies and grandparents.
Due to frequent relocations, Keanu changed four high schools and he was even expelled from The Etobicoke School of the Arts. He suffered from reading disorder – dyslexia and that’s why he focus on playing a sport instead of academic work. Keanu was dated various actresses like Cameron Diaz, Charlize Theron, Hallie Meyers-Shyer, Sandra Bullock. He also was in a relationship with American actress Jennifer Syme. They got the baby girl, but she was stillborn. This tragedy causes their breakup. Soon after, Jennifer lost her life in a car accident.
Keanu declares himself as non-religious but it is obvious his interest in Buddhism.
Keanu is known for his cancer charity works. He set up cancer charity organization and supported a lot of similar foundation. Interest for this work may be the fact that his sister Kim was fighting with leukemia over 10 years.

Acting Career
Keanu began acting at age 9 in the musical comedy Damn Yankees. Sixt years later, he portrayed Mercutio, a character from tragedy Romeo and Juliet. After theater playing, he moved to Los Angeles. There, he filmed a few commercials, including the most know for Coca-Cola. First screen debut he has in Canadian television sitcom Hangin’ In.
Reeves was a part of Going Great – Canadian youth TV program.
His first movie role was in the drama sports film Youngblood ( 1986 ), where he played goalie Heaver. Soon after this movie, an American film producer Erwin Stoff became Keanu’s agent.
Another noted role he has in the drama River’s Edge ( 1986 ), where he played a teenage boy Mat which deals with murder. The success of this movie led him to another, more significant role, in the sci-fi comedy Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure ( 1989 ). He filmed the second part of this movie in 1991 – Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey.
