Maria Brink is a famous American singer and songwriter who is not just known for her popular songs and her skills as an amazing musician but also because of her struggles that she faced all through her life.

She is part of the famous heavy metal band, In This Moment in which she is the frontman and vocalist and performs alongside her other band member and guitarist, Chris Howorth.

Early life

Maria Brink was born on December 17, 1977, in Schenectady, New York to his mother, Marie. She had a very tough childhood and faced a lot of abuse and struggle all throughout. Not just at home, she even had to face the wrath of it in her high school as well when she was thrashed into the “burnouts” group. Maria has always said that it was her mother who made it worthwhile and who made it better even with all the darkness encompassing her life.

The breaking point of her life was when she was abused by her own father when she was young. He later abandoned both Maria and her mother, and they were left to fend for themselves. She later even wrote a song based on these dark times in her life and titled it as “Daddy’s Falling Angel.” She always has struggled and was even severely depressed and was even suicidal.

Her childhood was nothing but a roller-coaster ride, and even later her mother was diagnosed as a drug addict. Maria helped her mother through the tough times and helped her seek out to the rehab to get better eventually. She gradually regained her health back and is not clean.

Career

Maria was also very enthused about singing, and songwriting and the very first band that she was part of was a local Albany based music band named “Pulse.” She joined the group when she was 18, and the band went onto being opening acts for several groups like Sevendust and Coal Chamber, but they eventually decided to split up.

Following the break of the band, she decided to give it a go and decided to relocate her entire life to Los Angeles where she knew she could make it big. She dumped everything in her U-Haul van and went to chase after her dreams and later flew out her son six weeks after she got everything settled. She later went on to audition for Chris who was looking for a new member of their band, but Chris didn’t want to give her go because she was a girl. His opinions were soon changed when he heard her sing.

Chris, Maria and Jeff finally formed their band in 2005 and named it as “Dying Star.” The very first song that gained the band the recognition was Drifting. Maria later wrote and released another song “Legacy of Odio” which she wrote for as a remembrance for her best friend.

Maria wrote several songs for her son whom she loves more than life. Some of the most popular ones include “He Said Eternity” and “All for You.” Some of the most popular albums released by them include “Beautiful Tragedy,” “The Dream,” “Blood,” “Ritual” and much more.

Personal Life

Maria has not been rumored with any other partner because she announced that she wants to just focus on her son and her music. She conceived her son when she was just 15 years old and has been raising him as a single parent since then.

She also owns a Chihuahua named Twinkle, and she is very close to her assistant, Avisia whom she regards to as her sister.
