Early life
Michael Irvin was born on March 5, 1966 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He grew up in Florida and from an early age he was interested in sports, especially in football. Irvin grew up in a large family with a lot of children and Irvin was the third youngest out of them all.
Because his parents had a lot of children, money was always a problem and they had to learn how to make it work. Michael was seeking attention by hanging out with the wrong crowd and to save him and make him concentrate on his football talent, his parents sent him to a private Catholic school.
Finally, Michael was able to concentrate on his training and stay out of trouble. Unfortunately, not long after things were starting to look better, his father died in Irvin’s senior year and that is when Michael decided that he will start making better life choices for him and for his family.
He became the wide receiver for the University of Miami and played the until his first NFL draft in 1988. While he was on his college team, he managed to set several school records and some of them are even existent today.
Football career
After his NFL draft in 1988 he became a part of Dallas Cowboys. They have selected him together with some of today’s greatest football player. On the team, Michael showed amazing dedication to training and his performances on the court have brought his team numerous victories.
During his time on the Dallas Cowboys tam he earned a nickname Playmaker because of his ability to catch so many throws. In 2007 he was included in the Football Hall of Fame together with the greatest of them all.
His football career ended after he had to undergo a spinal surgery in 1998. Michael then decided to focus his attention to something close to football and the area he knew so well.
TV and sports commentator career
After his departure from football, Michael focused on entertainment, so he appeared in 2005 The Longest Yard and Jack and Jill movie. He was also a part of the TV series Spike TV and for a while he was the host of TV show 4th and Long.
Because of his knowledge about the game and sports in general, he received an offer to work as a sports commentator for the ESPN and now days he works for NFL Network.
Like many other former superstars, Michael has also appeared on the Dancing with the stars and surprisingly he has made it until the 7th week.
In 2011 he announced that he will be investing in Elite Football League of India together with some of the richest people in the world.

Personal life
After his difficult childhood and sudden rise to fame, it seemed like Michael was finally on the road for something good. But even with his amazing career scores and achievements, some of his mischief spirit from younger days still remained.
In 1996, together with his teammate Erik Williams, he was accused of a sexual assault against Nina Shahravan. He was allegedly under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The young cheerleader later decided to drop the charges against them and pled guilty to perjury.
Again, in 2005, Michael was pulled over for speeding and during the regular search of his car, the police officers found a pipe and marijuana.
Another sexual assault charge was placed in 2007, but the case was settled out of court in 2011. Michael is married to Sandy Harrell and the couple has three children together. Irvin’s also has a daughter from his previous relationship. Michael got married to Sandy in 1990 and despite all of the charges placed on his name, the couple is still living happily.
