Born on 11th October 1989 in Honolulu, Hawaii, Michelle developed the passion for golf from her mother, Bo Wie. He had been a former transportation management professor. Michelle’s parents had migrated from the interiors of South Korea to the United States over the period of the 1980s. This made Wie a possessor of twin citizenship of both United States and South Korea.

However, in 2013, Michelle took the decision of renouncing her South Korean citizenship. Michelle did attend the Punahou School located in Honolulu and did graduate from the school in the year of 2017.

Wie’s grandfather had been a visiting professor at the Stanford University, and she also had an uncle and aunt who did graduate from that particular university. The fact that the family of Michelle Wie was tied to the Stanford University made her opt for the university prior her graduation. Soon enough in the age of 13 she became the best upcoming golf player among the rising youngest amateur players and got a chance to get through the occasional tour of LPGA.
