Patrick Stewart is an English theater, TV and movie actor.

Early years

He was born on 13th July 1940. in Mirfield, England and grew up in a poor home with his two brothers.

He attended Crowlees Church of England Junior and Infants School and at the age of eleven he moved to Secondary Modern School to study drama.

When he was 18 years old he lost all of his hair because of an autoimmune disease.

His childhhod was marked by his fathers poor behaviour and violence towards his mother Gladys.

Career development 

He became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1966. and was a member until 1982.

In 1967. he had his first TV debut in „Coronation Street“.

In 1980s he moved to The Royal National Theatre.

He appeared in many TV series: „Fall of eagles“, „Tinker Tailor SoldierSpy“, „Claudius“,“ North and South“…

He preffered classical theatere but  still has  agreed to sign a contract for a role in a sci-fi series „Star Trek“ although he thought it will fail soon.

The series became extremely popular and the role of Captain Jean-Luc Picard brought him fame and financial security.

From 1994. to 2002. he was caught in the Star Trek franchise and worked very hard because most of the scenes were fictional and challenging.

In late 90s he accepted a role of Professor Charles Xavier in  „X- men“  and that was his another huge success.

He also starred as Scrooge in 1999. TV film „ A Christmas Carol“.

Through all that time he never left the theatre  he loves so much so he made a lot of appearences there too.

His work in theatre was especially grandiose in Shakespear’s „ Macbeth“ and „Hamlet“.

Younger viewers know his voice from several animated films: „The Prince of Egypt“, „Jimmy Neutron“,“Steamboy“,…

He lent his voice to all Star Trek and X-men computer and video games franchise.

He was nominated several times for many awards, including Tony, Emmy, Golden Globe.

He won an Emmy Award for a role of Captain Ahab in the film adaptation of „Moby Dick“ originally writen by Herman Melville.

He won a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for Children. 

Philantropic work

He is a known activist for Amnesty International, fighting against voilence.

He funds postgraduate study on University of Huddersfield.

He’s a patron of Refuge ( help for abused women) which has roots in his childhood where he witnessed enormous  violence against his mother. That caused him to join many organizations and to publically judge any kind of violence.

Personal life

After 24 years of marriage he divorced his wife Sheila Falconer with whom he had two children.

He married Wendy Neuss ( a Star Trek producer) in 2000. but the marriage lasted only 3 years.

The third time he married in 2013. to Sunny Ozell, a singer and a songwriter.

He is a member of the Labour Party.
