Philip was born on January 30, 1983, in a Bay Area slum in Oakland, California to a family struggling with poverty. His life has been the best rendition of what people call a “rags to riches” story. Philip’s life has been nothing but struggles right from a very early age.
He was kicked out of his own house by his mother when he was just in his third grade. He spent the majority of his childhood in shelter homes and elementary schools and even ended up in jail at times. He didn’t let anything from stopping him.
In 2012, he got involved in an accident where he ended up getting shot not once but three consecutive times. Not just his albums, but Philip has even collaborated with a number of other popular American artists for his albums and even for several singles and EPs.
It was in 2007 when Philip convinced a few rappers of that time, Mistah F.A.B, Shady Nate and a few more to join him on a self-sponsored tour that they titled as Stan Bizzness BG’s. The tour was later canceled because of the sudden arrest of Philip due to his involvement in some drugs dealing. He was later sentenced to one year due to him dealing cocaine.
That was not the start of it because he was also rumored to be one of the youngest teens to be involved in this business. He still to this day blames his parents because of the lack of good upbringing that he was treated with. He wanted to finish high school and do something good, but he couldn’t afford to.
It was finally in 2013 that he signed with RBC Records and one Music under whom he released his very first album N.E.R.N.L.2. The album did receive a lot of recognition and had many collaborations in it, namely with other popular rappers like Fabolous and Gunplay. Since then, he has released a number of albums following that. Some of the most talked about albums include the N.E.R.N.L series and some others like Funk or Die, Neighbourhood Supastar, Loyalty B4 Royalty and the list is literally never ending.
He has also released a number of EPs and mixtapes apart from the studio albums.
