Early life

Caitlyn was born as William Bruce Jenner on 28 October, 1949 in Mount Kisco, New York. In 2015, Bruce Jenner came out as a transgender woman and changed his name to Caitlyn. His father, William Hugh Jenner, was an abortist. Caitlyn’s mother, Esther, was a homemaker. Caitlyn has two sisters, Pam and Lisa, and his brother Burt died in a car accident a year after Caitlyn won the gold medal.

Caitlyn had a normal childhood and she grew up in Monte Kisco. At an early age she was diagnosed with dyslexia, a condition which makes it harder for the ones who suffer from it to read and write. However, this hasn’t stopped Caitlyn from getting good grades in school.

Caitlyn was always an athletic child, and she spent most of her childhood playing football with her school team. After finishing high school, she earned a football scholarship and continued playing football as a part of University team.

Her football career ended soon after a serious knee injury. Her football coach noticed her talent and suggested Caitlyn to switch to athletic team instead. Caitlyn started training decathlon and after graduation from Graceland College she got a degree in physical education.

Olympic Games 1976

Caitlyn, then Bruce, fell in love with the tracks and worked hard on her condition. She ended at place number 5 in U.S. trials and continued to train for the U.S. team going to Olympics. In 1972 she managed to get into the Olympic representatives.

Caitlyn spent her days training and preparing for Olympic Games and her nights as a salesman. Her hard work and dedication finally paid off in 1976, when Caitlyn won a gold medal for decathlon in Olympic Games in Montreal. All of the hard work finally paid off and she even set a new record.

Fame after the Olympics

After scoring a great result in the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976, Caitlyn became a celebrity in the U.S. People saw her as a hero who defeated the enemy and business offers started coming her way. The reason why this gold medal was so important is because decathlon and few other disciplines where always won by the Soviet athletes, and when the war was in progress this achievement was important.

This made Caitlyn an important figure for the whole nation and guaranteed her place in the star sky. Caitlyn became a spokesperson for Buster Brown shoes, Minolta and Tropicana, which were all great brand names during that time.

Cereal brand Wheaties, made Caitlyn (then Bruce) the cover face of their package. Caption from the Olympic Games run was something every American watched every morning, when they enjoyed their favorite cereal.

Movies and TV

As a famous athlete she appeared on many TV shows and movies during ‘80s, however her performance wasn’t very good.

Her appearance was really bad and the movie was even nominated and won the worst movie of the year award. After bad critic’s reviews, Caitlyn stayed off the screens and focused her time on other business projects for a while.

Business income

Most of Caitlyn’s money comes from speeches she holds that are mostly about her transition process and community acceptance of her new life. Because they are considered to be personal stories for encouragement of others, she charges a lot of money for them. Some numbers even go to few hundred thousand dollars.

Caitlyn is still the face of Wheaties and they declared their support even after Bruce came out as trans-woman. Caitlyn has two companies, Bruce Jenner’s Westwood Centers for Nautilus and Aerobics and Bruce Jenner Aviation that sell aircraft supplies.

Caitlyn is also a vice-president of JennerNet. Most of Caitlyn’s money after the Olympics comes from her appearance on the Kardashian reality TV show. Since the show aired in 2006, Then Bruce and now Caitlyn, was a regular cast of the TV reality show.

Her show “I am Cait” started airing and it was concentrated on Caitlyn and her everyday life after she came out. The show wasn’t such a great success and it ended after few seasons.
