Chael Sonnen is a mixed martial artist or MMA master also known as „The American Gangster“.
Early years
He was born on April the 3rd,1977. in West Linn, Oregon. He attended West Linn High School.
He grew up with one sister and seven brothers.
His father was very strict and his childhood was pretty tough.
When he was at the University of Oregon he was an NCAA Divison I All-American wrestler.
Career development
When he was 19 years old he had his first professional debut in MMA. In his second fight he has beaten the famous Jason Miller.
After five winnings came a series of five lost matches.
In 2005. he lost a match by a very dangerous wrestler Renato Sobral but he still got his first WFC win by beating Langley.
In the next match he was beaten by Horn so UFC released him.
After that he made his first debut for World Extreme Cagefighting and he won a series of matches so UFC started to be interested in him again.
They gave him another shot at UFC after he had those series of winning matches.
In 2010. he managed to beat the notorius Silva but he was suspended because of elevated level of testosterons in his blood, which meant hew was under a forbidden influence of medical boosters.
He also had problems with the law for his business practise in the real estate buy and sell.
In 2013. Sonnen moved up to the light heavy weight.
He wanted to fight Silva again, because it was his dream to beat No.1.
Before this new match with Silva he was again positive on banned supstances so eventually he retired, and never got the chance to meet with Silva again.
Personal life
He married Brittany Smith in 2013. He and his wife have a son Thero born in 2015.
Unfortunately, in August 2016. their newborn baby daughter, named Blauna Dian sonnen, died.
She was born 10 weeks premature due of her mother’s infection with a dangerous bacteria Listeria.
Chael is very close to his mother, his father died of cancer in 2002.
He wrote a book entitled „The Voice of Reason: A V.I.P. Pass to Enlightenment“.
It is an autobiography that includes trivia from the wrestling world.
Philantropic work
He was a contestant in the NBC’s „The New Celebrity Apprentice“ in 2016.
Through this show he got involved in helping and raising funds for „Hire Heroes USA“.
It is an organization that provides career coaching services to military veterans in transition and also their families.
It also helps them to be attractive as employees to companies in search of workers.
He also donates money to fighters with problems, f.e. he donated money to a fighter who he has met only once,while he was at the University and he paid him his training in Russia.
