Gregg Wallace is an English TV host who became known for his role of presenting BBC’s succesful cooking series named Masterchef. Other than work on TV, he also works as a writer.

Early years

He was born as Gregg Allan Wallace, on October 17, 1964 in a district of London named Peckham, locate in the South-east part of the city. It is a town in England.

After that, the family relocated to Whitstable, Kent where he had spent most of his childhood.

His mother Mary Pettnam always saw his interest and supported him accordingly. Gregg has a brother Paul and they are on friendly terms.

After finishing high school, Allan started wokring as vegetables salesman. He had a stand in a part of city named Covent Garden.

In 1989, when he already knew everything that need to be known about vegetables and fruit, he started his own company. He named it George Allan’s Greengrocers. His company grew and eventually became a company worth a few million pounds.

This success brought him an invitation to BBC Radio for talk show. It was titled „Veg Talk“ and in this radio show he worked for seven years alongside Charlie Hicks.

Career development

As for his work on TV, it started in 2002 when he became a host of a Cookery program called „Saturday Kitchen“. He was replaced from this position by Antony Thompson one year later.

This wasn’t the only program he presented. He was also hired by Discovery Channel to present in „Veg Out“, by The Food Channel where he hosted „Follow That Tomato“. This ventures brought him an award from Royal Television Society which awarded him for Best Lifestyle Programme in that year.

In 2005, he became a co-host on a very popular and high-rated BBC show called „MasterChef“.

His collegue was John Tarode. John Torode, unlike Greg, is an Australian chef who relocated to London in the early 90’s.

In years 2008 and 2009, Greg was a host of „The Money Programme“ series.

In 2010, he decided to open his first restaurant, hoping that his name will bring him guests.

„Wallace & Co“ was a restaurant settled in Putney and Greg was one of the CEO’s of the firm.

Two years later, in 2012, he had opened another food service. This time he called it „Gregg’s Bar & Girl“. He opened it in collaboration with Bermondsey Square Hotel.

In 2013, he lost one of his companies, called „West Veg Limited“, due to the debt of the company in amount of half a million pounds.

In 2014, he had closed both of his restaurants and it was a public knowledge that he owed his suppliers a big amount of money.

In the summer of 2013, Greg was s presenter on BBC One, on their series called „Supermarket secrets“. This series showed people how British supermarkets do in order to sell their food.

Later that year he was a part of a documentary called „Harvest 2013“. He also hosted „Eat Well for Less?“ and „Inside The Factory“, both made by BBC.

In 2016, he became the presenter of „Time Commanders“, a game show from 2005 which was reactivated by the BBC.

In 2007, Greg was invited to become a contest of „Just the Two of Us“ show. He was soon eliminated from the show, at the very begining.

His partner in the show was Carol Decker, a leader of T’Pau bend. T’Pau was an extremely popular bend in the 80’s.

In 2010, he made an appearance in „Turn Back Time: The Higjh Street“. He appeared alongside Juliet Gardiner, a known British historian.

In 2012, he appeared in „Room 101“ and in „Who Do You Think You Are?“.

Two years later, in 2014, he became a contestant of „Strictly Come Dancing“ TV dance contest where his partner was Aliona Vilani. He left the show very early, not liked by the public.

He has a long career as a writer. He writes articles for magazines „Good Food“ and „Olive“ which are always very well read.

Personal life

As for his personal life, Greg was married and divorced three times. His first marriage with Christine didn’t last one year. They got married in 1991, and divorced the same year.

His second marriage to Denise began in 1999, and they were together for 5 years. Denise was a pastry chef and they have two kids together. After they divorced, the judge ruled that Greg receives full custody for their kids.

His son Tom was born in 1994, and his daughter Libby in 1997.

In 2009, Greg met Heidi whom he married in 2010. Year later, their divorce was final.

In 2013, he met his current wife over Twitter. Her name is Anne-Marie Sterpini and they got married in 2013. She is over 20 years younger than him and they jave met at work since she is a caterer.

Gregg and Anne got married in 2016. His best man was one of his good friends and coleagues John Torode.

In 2017, Greg transformered his looks. He started training and eating more healthy food. Some journalists guess that it is because of his young wife and his fear of getting old.
