Plaxico Burress is a professional football player and his estimated net worth is around 22$ million.

Early life

Plaxico Burress was born on August 12, 1977 in Norfolk, Virginia. He grew up in Virginia and spent most of his time on the field and playing football. Plaxico was always an athletic child so it was no wonder he decided to pursue a career in football later on.

He attended Virginia Beach High School and Michigan State college. During whole this time he played for the high school and later for the college team, making some pretty memorable moments on the field even as an amateur.

Professional football career

Burress joined the NFL draft in 2000 and was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He signed a contract for five years with the team. To document his amazing gameplay, MTV show True Life dedicated on screen recording of his first season.

In 2005, after a bad season with the Steelers he announced that he will be transferring to the New York Giants. He signed a 25$ million contract with the team adding more money to his already impressive bank account.

In 2008 he broke his contract with the team because he wasn’t satisfied with the terms of the agreement. He had to pay three fines totaling 60 thousand dollars. It was clear that his contract with the team is ending so he signed a 3$ million contract with the New York Jets in 2011.

He later returned to the Steelers where he played until 2013 after finally retiring from the field. After his professional career, he was often confronted with the law and in 2010 he was ordered to pay a 160$ thousand fine because of a hit and run incident.

Another incident with one car dealer in Pennsylvania caused him to pay a 2$ thousand fine, because he received a luxury car in order to appear on public events, but he failed to do so and never returned the car.

In 2013 he was ordered to pay 46$ thousand in taxes. If he fails to pay the amount ordered by the court, he might end up behind the bars. Since he joined NFL in the year 2000 he was sued for at least nine times.

Plaxico helped with the writing of the book Giant: The Road to the Super Bowl and was a part of an NFL SportsNet as an analyst. He is now living mostly of his former glory and public appearances. With all of the fines and lawsuits, his net worth has dropped significantly.

Personal life

His private life was often in the public eye because of his bad behavior. He married Tiffany Glenn in 2005 and the couple divorced few years back. Together they have two children, a son Elijah and a daughter Giovanna.

Before going off to college, he spent one year in a military academy in Fork Union. Burress grew up with two brothers and was named after his uncle Plaxico.

In 2008 two domestic disturbance calls were made from his household but both restraining orders were dismissed by the court. On 2008 he also accidentally shot himself in one night club in New York. He was carrying a gun for which he didn’t own a New York license and during a search of his home in New Jersey, more weapons were found on the property.

He was sentenced and spent 20 months in jail for his reckless behavior and endangerment of the second degree.
