Rohit Sharma is a known Indian cricket player who is currently on the position of vice captain in India’s National Cricket Team.

He is also known as „Hitman“ and he is one of the most popular cricketer in India’s history.

Early years

He was born as Rohit Gurunath Sharma on April 30, 1987 in Bansod in Nagpur, Maharashtra. His mother’s name is Purnima and his father is Gurunath Sharma. His father was employed as a worked at a storehouse, but he received a very low monthly income.

This is the reason why his son Rohit spent almost all of his childhood in a town called Borivali,where he grew up with his grandparents and his father’s brother.

It was during the weekend that he was able to visit his parents who lived together in one room.

After his father lost his job, he took care of the family and has spent almost all of his earnings at the beginning of his career.

He has a brother called Vishal with whom he saw only on weekends because he lived with their parents. They both went to Our Lady of Vailankanni High School in Borivali.

Members of his family are vegetarians but he never hid that his favorite meal are eggs so he often ate them outside home. It was widely known so everybody made him eggs when he came to visit.

In 1999, his uncle who loved him very much enrolled him into a cricket camp because he saw that Rohit has a huge talent for that sport.

The coach in the camp was Dinesh Lad and he saw Rohit’s talent. He asked him to relocate to the school when he was a coach: to Swami Vivekanand International School.

Since Rohit couldn’t afford such a school because of his family situation, Dinesh got him a four years long scholarship, which was a great surprise and joy to his parents and, of course, to him.

Sachin Tendulkar is his idol. Sachin is one of the most popular cricket player in the world.

Career development

Dinesh Lad son saw his battling abilities and has put him on a better position. He showed great scores at all school cricket tournaments. In 2005, he made it t the list A with his great games against North Zone.

He was noticed by cricket fans and trainers so hewas put under the magnifier glass at his early beginnings.

He was selected to the list for the Championships Throphy but hasn’t succeeded in getting to the team.

His debut at Ranji Trophy 1st class cricket championship was in 2006/2007.

India’s cricket team went on a tour to Ireland in 2007. He debuted in Belfast but hasn’t got the chance to bat in this match,

His first bigger succes was in the winter of 2007 when he scored an unbeaten 50 in India’s victory against the South African team. It was in the Twenty 20 Championship in 2007.

In the finals against Pakistan he scored 30 runs. In 2007/2008 season he was chosen as a team member at Commonwealth Bank Series. He especially loved to play against Pakistan and win. He was the same when it came to games against Australia.

He became a partner to Sachin Tendulkar and they made one of the best games India has seen. He became the Man of the Match at the finals. He was extremely grateful for the opportunity to play with his biggest idol Sachin.

After his game took a turn for worse, he was replaced by Suresh Raino. He became the reserve batsman and was unsatisfied with his position.

In 2009 his scoring improved and he was invited to join Indian Test team. In the nest two years he had his ups and downs but after he deteriated his form he was dropped from the squad which was preopering 2011 World Cup.

Although he wasn’t in the cup, he was called to perfrom at West Indies tour and he gave a good score of 26 off 23 balls.

He continued his good form for a while. He was selected as the Man of the Match at Queen’s Park oval.

His perfromance on the third ODI was very praised since he kept himself calm and showed responsibility.

This was the game which ended up with his first award as the Man of the Series. That resulted in an invitation to the Australian series.

In 2013’s Champions Trophy, he was the opening batsman and his good form contributed to a great game of his team. India won the Champions Trophy.

In 2013 he scored very high at Eden Gardens and his score was 2nd best by an Indian.

He became the 3rd cricket player from India to score back-2-back centuries in his two beginning tests.

In 2015, he was a member of a team in South Africa’s tour of India and he broke several records: 2nd cricketer who scored centuries in all segments; Man of the Series; the fastest century off balls.

He was named as a captain in 2017, the first time in his career. It was a game against Sri Lanka.

In 2008 he joined the Deccan Chargers and in the next season he became the vice captain. He was the most valuable player of the match against Kolkata Knight Riders team.

He became the player of Mumbai Indians in 2011. In 2013, he became the permanent captain of the same team.

In 2015, he helped his team in a winning against Chennai Super Kings where he was declared „Man of the Match“.

He captained his team in 3 wins of IPL (Indian Premier League).

Personal life

He became engaged to his manager, Ritika Sajdeh, in 2015. They got married at the end of the same year. Ritika is a beautiful sports manager with black hair and black eyes.

He is a huge fan of cars so he has BMW, Audi, Porsche and Mercedes in his possesion.

He lives in Worli with his wife, in a luxury house they bought in 2015.

His mother comes from South India so she can speak Telugu. But that is not all, Rohit  fluently speaks in three more languages- English, Hindi and Marathi.

Rohit once skipped school in order to meet Virender Sehwag, one of the best India’s batsman and his idol.

Before he started his relationship with Ritika, he was seeing a British- Indian model called Sofia Hayat. Their relationship was very short.

Ritika and Rohit met in 2008 at a shoot of a Reebok ad. They have been in a relationship for 6 years before they got married.

Rohit proposed to Ritiika on the cricket ground in his Borivali school. He wanted to propose her at a place where his career first started.

They both love dogs and have two of them. They often take walks with them but mostly where they are not so visible.

He is a huge fan of football and his favorite club is Manchester United.

He has some little superstitions so he has his jersey number 45 and all cars registered by this number.
