Yung Berg is a known American record producer and a rapper from Chicago who has worked on projects with many known stars, such as: Meek Mill, Nicki Minaj and Bow Wow.

Early years

Yung Berg was born as Christian Ward on September 9, 1985 in the town of Chicago in Illinois, USA.

His father is African American and his mother’s Puerto Rican so he is of mixed descent.

He showed great interest in hip-hop since his early age, so it wasn’t surprising that he signed a contract with Bloodline Records when he was only 16.

Career development

His debut came with the release of a 2001 movie „Exit Wounds“ fow which he made a song „Dog 4 Life“ under his stage name Iceberg.

His parents are very successful business people and they live good lives but they just  didn’t want for him to get involved in music.

His parents weren’t satisfied with the way he spent his time so they have sent him to Montana, into a military boarding school when he was 18 years old.

He finished the school in 2003 after which he relocated to Los Angeles. He was focused in making his career in music no matter what so he continued producing his own music.

After he graduated from the University he still continued to record demo songs until he was noticed by a rapper Shawunna, a member of „Disturbing The Peace“. He found himself a job as a recording assistant for this rapper Shawnna.

In 2005 he founded his own record label called Young Fly Movement (Yung Boss Records in the beginning).

In 2007, he released his debut single called „Sexy Lady“, featuring R&B singer Junior,  which became a huge hit and earned him a contract with Epic Records (a Sony Music record label). The song eventually landed on No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart.

In the summer of the same year he released his EP called „Almost Famous: The Sexy Lady EP“ which was a promo song for his debut album called „Look What You Made Me“. The album went as up to No.2. on the Top Rap Albums list.

He casted for a reality TV show „Back in Business“ but the show was never released.

In 2008 a rapper called Trick-Trick ambushed Yung Berg and his crew and stole his Transformers chain. His Batman chain was stolen by Rowdy T, an English rapper.

In 2008 he dissed a fellow rapper Bow-Wow, but the two of them solved their problem.

The same year he offended Terrence J from BET’s 106th and Park calling him a “ringtone rapper.” He also made fun of  Flo- Rida comparing the thing he talked about with Flo-Rida’s hairline.

He was arrested in New York in 2008 and charged with possession of a weapon and marijuana and involvement in alternication with five other people.

In 2009 he was one of the founders of a production group called „The Dream Team“ alongside Rob Holladay and K-Young.

His former girlfriend Drew Sidora released a version of her first single called “Not Alone” which was considered as a Yung Berg Diss.

He had a guest appearance in a Kat Deluna video for a single called “Whine Up”.

The same year, Berg added another alias to himself, this one tightly connected with his production business. It was “Hit Maka” and it showed where his interests lie: he  focused on writing, producing and arranging songs for other rappers and artists.

The co-wrote & co-produced a few singles on Nicki Minaj’s album called „The Pinkprint“.

He was the person behind Tamar Braxton’s hit single too.

In 2010 he released his first mixtape titled “The Show, The Afterparty and The Hotel” and since then he released a few more.

In 2012 he was invited to join the crew of VH1’s reality TV show called „Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood“.

In 2015 he was fired from the show after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend Masika Kalysha Tucker.

He insulted a known rapper „Flo Rida“ the same year and insulted another rapper Brisco but this time on the video.

In 2014 he joined the cast of “Love& Hip-Hop: Hollywood”, a very popular franchise of reality TV series.

He had a fued with a singer called Tearra Mari but they resolved the feud during the 1st season of Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood and he even produced her song named „Deserve“. He said some bad things about her in a lot of his interviews and public performances so it was hard for him to make peace with her.

He was fired from the above mentioned TV show because he assaulted his ex girlfriend Masika Kalysha Tucker.

He spoke his side of the story through his single called “Masika’s Interlude”.

He produced and even wrote some songs for Puff Diddy’s album called “Last Train To Paris”. The two of them are often in contact since Diddy liked his work very much.

In 2017, he was involved in an altercation in a hotel in Miami. The police found weed in his posession and he was fined.

He is known for his temper and for his short fuel.

His song „Sexy Lady“ was so popular that it was remixed by Jim Jones and DJ Khaled.

Personal life

He had a fling with Hazel E which was put out of context and caused him a lot of problems since Hazel forced them as a couple all on media platforms.

He has an autistic son from his short relationship with a woman called Bianna from his early life, when he was 18 years old. He claimed he wasn’t the father and wouldn’t pay child support.

The child’s name is Lamont McFerren but he thinks he has no responsibility towards the child.

He is known to American Department of Family Services because he owes over $100 000 of child-support to his one child.

He has been in a lot of relationships and niether of them ended happily. He dated known celebrities such as Joie Chavis, Arika Kane and Milani Rose.

He claims that he is kind of a racist because he doesn’t like to date womwn who have darker skin than him. That caused his appearance in a video exclusive on AllHipHop.com where he apologized to all the women he offended with his statement.

One of the positive things he has done is that he started collaborating with the Declare Yourself campaign which brings awareness of voting to young people and helps them to register.

He was also arrested in Miami after he crashed a motorbike and the police found him intoxicated.
