Benjamin Millepied is a fabulous dancer whom people know as a choreographer as well. The ‘Black Swan’  is perhaps his one of the best effort. The film was highly appreciated throughout  the globe.

He is in charge of Opera Ballet in Paris where he is the director. One of the most popular ballet dancer in recent times is highly paid for his outstanding performances. So far this French dancer has accumulated not less than $900,000.

Early life

The French Ballet dancer was born in Bordeaux, France on 10thJune, 1977. He is born to Catherine Millepied Flory who already has a tremendous reputation in the field. Benjamin father is Denys Millepied. He had a deep interest dancing from his early childhood days; he started his training in dance when he was just a boy of eight. He is the youngest of the three siblings. He studied with Michel Rahn in his younger days at Conservatoire National.

No one but his mother has inspired him most as she was in the same profession. He got enrolled in the School of American Ballet. French Ministry recognized his talent and rewarded him with a scholarship. In 1995 he got into corps de ballet. The chair of the choreographer for American Ballet Theater was later occupied by Benjamin Millepied. Jerome Robbins saw the young promising talent and extended himself to groomBenjamin.

Career

In 1995 Benjamin joined corps de ballet of New York City Ballet. In 1998 he was declared to be the soloist and finally in 2002 became the chief dancer to lead the ballet group. The imitating choreographer started planning and setting up dance forms for American Ballet Theater, City Ballet, the Metropolitan Opera, the School of American Ballet, Ballet de Genève and the Paris Opera Ballet. Along with these assignments, he was also creating dance forms for his own company.

For the Baryshnikov Arts Centre in New York, he became the choreographer-in-residence in 2006. On 26th October 2011, the announcement came that Benjamin would no further serve the New York City Ballet. In one short film “Time Doesn’t Stand Still” in the year 2010, he took the lead role.

In 2013, in the month of January, an announcement came from the Paris Opera Ballet that for dance Benjamin would be the director. With William Forsythe for the choreographers, he started an in-house program. The first season saw many celebrities joining the program. A digital platform was also established, and exchanges were initiated with American Ballet Theater and the Mariinsky.

Releve, a documentary on the ballet by Alban Teurlai and Thierry Demaiziere has shown Benjamin as director. The Premiere of the documentary came at Tribeca Film Festival in North America. He resigned Paris Opera Ballet on 4th February 2016.

He joined hand with David Lang, Thierry Escaich, Nico Muhly, Philip Glass, Daniel Ott like prominent composers to create an excellent offer ballets. The work of Benjamin has been written by the Jerome Robbins Trust and Arlene Cooper, Anne Bass and some prominent personalities have participated with their contribution in writing. His ideas were exploited in ‘Barbie in the Nutcracker’ and ‘Barbie of Swan Lake.’ In 2009 director Darren Aronofsky’s “Black Swan” which was a psychological thriller movie was choreographed by Benjamin.

The Amoveo Company was formed by him in 2012. It was an effort for art collection and multimedia productions. With various artists as IO Echo, Zeds Dead, Mark Bradford, Philip Glass, Lil Buck and some more Benjamin collaborated to create some innovative short films.

He took the seat of a judge on 22nd August 2012 in the most favorite television dance program ‘So You Think You Can Dance.’  Benjamin became the Artistic Advisor at an upcoming dance academy, Colburn School in Downtown Los Angeles in 2014.

Personal life

‘Black Swan’ had not only added a feather to his cap it had also contributed to his personal life as well. On the set in early 2009, he met Natalie Portman. Before this, he was involved with Isabella Boylston who was the lead dancer at American Ballet Theater. He went off from the life of Isabella and saw interest in the actress Natalie. The relation of the actress with the ballet dancer got into a genuine relationship.

The couple was blessed with a son, who was named as Aleph on 14th June 2011. Natalie and Benjamin wanted their bonding to get wedlock. They got married on 2012 August. Benjamin reported he is converting himself to Judaism. The Benjamin’s family moved to Los Angeles from Paris last year. Then on 22nd February 2017, the couple was again blessed with a daughter, they call their baby as Amalia.
