Fleur East is a known English singer, rapper and dancer. Her career was launched after her appearance in a British reality TV Show called „The X Factor“, but on her second try on the stage.

Early years

She was born as Fleur East on October 29, 1987 in Walthomstow in London, England.

Her mother originates from Ghana and her father is an Englishman. She has spent most of her childhood and youth living with her parents and a darling younger sister Keshia in a town called Walthamstow.

She was a student at Holy Family Technology College in her hometown and after that she became a member of Queen Mary University in London. She was a student at Journalism and Modern History.

Fleur was interested in music from a very early age and she and her sister were always staging their performances at home, in front of parents and friends.

Career development

She first decided to go public in “The X Factor” show as one of the girls from a group „Addictiv Ladies“. They were mentored by Simon Cowell, but they were soon eliminated from the show.

That hasn’t stopped her so she continued to search a way to launch her singing career. She wrote lyrics to other artists and became more engaged in fitness.

She hired a manager and he introduced her to DJ Fresh who liked her voice and gave her a job as a vocalist on BBC Radio 1.

She appeared on his single named „Turn It Up“ in 2012 and became a part of his tour crew.

She joined him on his performances on T4 on the Beach Festival and iTunes Festival.

She signed a contract with „Strictly Rythm“, an American record label mostly covering house-music.

She released her two singles „Broken Mirror“ and „Turn the Lights on“ the same year.

She was featured at „One in a Million“ single performed by Drumsound & Bassline Smith.

In 2013 she decided to release her first EP herself under the name „She“. It was available online for free download.

Since she needed money to invest in her career she worked as a waitress. She also modelled but all of this weren’t enough so she was on the verge of giving up.

Luckily, she has a great family whose members convinced her to join „The X Factor“ again, but this time alone.

Fleur again joined „The X Factor“ in 2014 where she made it to the judges houses, mentored again by her mentor from 2005 -Simon Cowell.

She surprised everyone with her astonishing performance of „Uptown Funk“ and her version made it to No1 on the UK Chart.

She hasn’t won the competition but she impressed Simon enough so he signed her to his record label Syco Music.

In 2015 she made a collaboration with Lipsy London, a women’s fashion brand, which resulted in her first personal fashion collection.

The same year she released „Sax“, a leading song from her first album, and it was a success: the single peaked at No.3 on charts.

Her album „Love, Sax and Flashbacks“ was released at the end of 2015.

She was invited to perform at the British TV awards ceremony called „National Television Awards“.

In 2016 she signed a contract with Columbia Records, a major American record label. She wanted to try herself outside Great Britain.

She toured twice: once in 2015, as a part of „The X Factor Live Tour“, and on her own „Sax Tour“ in 2016.

She signed to Columbia because she wanted to launch her international career because she was dissapointed with the success of her album. It reached only No.14 in UK.

She was hired for „OUMA’s Olympics“ fashion commercials.

She has her own YouTube channel and she has made a video for „Olympics 2012“.

Personal life

Her mother’s name is Irene Frimpong-Manso and her father is Malcom East. Her sister is a makeup artist. She is managed by Jamie Tagg of East Creative in London.

She is in a relationship with Marcel Badiane-Robin, a French fashion designer. They keep their relationship very private and away from the media.

This was very hard for her when Marcel was found guilty for handling stolen goods (expensive Celine bags were in question).

Her natural hair color is black but she often dyes it into blue, red or some other vibrant color.

Her favorite love song is „Unthinkable“ by Alicia Keys. She loves this singer a lot.

She was greatly influenced by Alicia Keys, Michael Jackson, Mary J. Blige and Lauryn Hill.

She is a co-founder of „N8 GYM“, a home workout regime. She is aware of the fact that female singers are good role models for younger people so they can help them be more aware of their health and the importance of workout.
