Early life
Kofi Kingston was born on 14th August 1981 in Kumasi, Ashanti, Ghana. His father is Kwasi Sarkodie-Mensah, and Elizabeth Sarkodie-Mensah is his mother. He was born with a Leo zodiac sign having Ghanaian ethnicity and had an American-Ghanaian nationality. He passed his early childhood days with his siblings. He has one brother who is Kwame Sarkodie-Mensah and a sister Nana Akun Sarkodie-Mensah. Very, unfortunately, his sister passed away in 2015.
Kofi moved to the United States with his family when he was very young. From the very early childhood days Kofi had a strong inclination toward wrestling. But the special stimuli for wrestling never came in his way to higher education. He was enrolled in the Winchester High School, Massachusetts. Later he attended Boston College from where he got his graduation majoring in communication. After clearing his education, he got into an advertisement organization, but he never felt like doing the job in the company. He already had tremendous interest in wrestling and wanted to judge his luck on the ring.
Career
His career in the ring began when he first faced Tony Omega in the year 2006 at the Chaotic Wrestling. In the same year on 4th June Kofi faced Evan Siks at PWF Mayhem Heavyweight Championship. In the Boston wrestling school, he had tried to impress the producer of WWE. His try does not go in vain as the producers were convinced of his wrestling ability and welcomed him to proceed to Atlanta in the Deep South Wrestling. On September 2006 WWE signed with him. The first match under WWE was fought on 21st September 2006 between Montel Vontavious Porter and newly named Kofi Nahaje Kingston. He continued at DSW till the early part of 2007 along with Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) where he joined Harry Smith.
Improving with the passage of time Kofi got into the WWE roster in 2007 itself. He was scheduled for two fights one with Charlie Haas and another with Trevor Murdoch. At the Florida Championship Wrestling, he appeared with Eric Perez in June of the year 2007 to wrestle against Rycklon Stephens and Keith Walker. Next on 22nd January in Charlottesville, he made his debut appearance in ECW and proved his strength by defeating David Owen. After this, he faced a couple of defeats. He was removed by Mark Henry in the pre-show of Wrestle Mania XXIV. On April 2008 Shelton Benjamin got heavier on Kofi, but soon he recovered by defeating Benjamin in an Extreme Rules encounter in June.
In the same year in the regime of the raw roster he succeeded against Chris Jericho to make an entry in the International Championship. Kofi teamed with Mickie James remained till SummerSlam and finally lost to Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix. On 27th October 2008 teamed with CM Punk Kofi won World Tag Team Championship. But the same duo gave the title to The Miz and John Morrison in December 2008. By winning over Chris Jericho in Bank Ladder, he earned Money at WrestleMania XXV. On 1st June 2009, he defeated Montel Vontavious Porter to win the US Championship. He defended the title till 5th October when he eventually surrendered to The Miz.
On the TLC Kofi appeared with Orton but was defeated. Later he won against Big Show and reached WWE Championship Elimination Chamber, but he failed in the match. Later he was seen with Even Bourne and Yoshi Tatsu and smashed Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Ted DiBiase. In his entire life, he had tasted some defeats as a part of the game but had emerged as a dominant wrestler in the same line with the champions of the game. He joined with Truth at Money in the Bank in 2012 to defeat Camacho and Hunico. At SummerSlam, the duo surpassed Prime Time Player and retained WWE Tag Team Championship.

Kofi married Kori Campfield in a private church, and the pair is blessed with two children.
