Lil Boosie is a known American rapper and a record producer. He is also an owner of Trill Entertainment and he served time in the State Penitentiary until he was released in 2014.

Early years

He was born as Torrence Hatch Jr on November 14, 1983 in Baton Rouge in Louisiana in United States. Torrence was unlucky to be brought up in a poor family with very low incomes.

From his early age Torrance whitnessed hard life since he was often hungry. His mother’s income wasn’t enough because his father was a selfish man who only thought about his addiction and how to get his hands on drugs.

His father Ray Hatch worked in manual jobs and had issues with drugs and finally he died in 1997 due to the consenquences of his habit.

His mother Connie was a school teacher and today she is in retirement, happy that her son has succeeded in life. She had a lot of problems raising her children in such an unhealthy environment. Her problems with her husband and his drug addictoons were severe causing her job and family many suffering.

He has an older brother called Taquari Jamar Hatch and his brother became his manager later on.

He attended McKinley High School in his hometown Baton Rouge but was never interested in learning.

Torrance left school when he was a teenager and hasn’t finished it until he was sent to prison. There he had an oportunity to receive a high school diploma which he missed when he was younger. You may surely say that he would never finish high school if he hasn’t been incarcereted.

He gained his nickname while he was a kid by his family members and it sticked to him. He liked his nickname and “Boosie” caused many laughters in their home.

He was a great fan of basketball and for a while he even thought he was going to become a known NBA player. But he wasn’t disciplined enough.

Career development

Lil Boosie has a cousin named Young Dee with whom he hang out with. He  introduced him to C-Loc who was a very important person in the world of music. C-Loc became his teacher and mentored him. He joined a music group “Concentration Camp” in 1996. C-Loc is also a Baton Rouge rapper and the owner of his own record label.

He was only 14 when this happened and he was the youngest member ever to succeed this. In 2000, C-Loc published his album “It’s A Gamble” and Boosie debuted on it and this was his first try out as a guest appearance on someone’s album.

Young Bleed, who was a long time member of this music group has left the group, abd this helped Lil’ Boosie to get a higher position in the group. He became “the face” of the group.

His debut album came in 2000 under the name “Youngest of Da Camp” since he was only 17 years old.

He joined Trill Entertainment in 2001 and became their good asset.

In 2002 he released his big album “For My Thugz” under his new stage name called Lil’ Boosie. Pimp C and Young Bleed were both featured on his album.

His first mixtape called “Boosie 2002” came out the same year.

In 2003, Lil Boosie started his longtime collaboration with Webbie who became his good friend. It was especially shown on their “Ghetto Stories” album. Webbie and Boosie started their collaboration which lasted for a very long time and they have made a lot of songs together.

They became a duo everybody liked and they again worked together on “Trill Azz Mixtape”.

After that he released “Thrill Azz Mixes II” and featured Lil Phat on it.

“Gangsta Musik” was th 2nd collaboration album of Boosie and Webbie and it gained a lot of attention.

In 2004 he released “Both Sides of a Track”, a new mixtape which received good critics too.

He started collaborating with Warner Bros Records in 2005 and this gave his career an extra push.

Lil released “Bad Ass Mixtape Vol. 1” the very next year and the same year came his highly appreciated “Bad Azz” album.

DJ Drama was a guest on his mixtape he  “Streetz Iz Mine” from 2006 where again Webbie came and made a guest appearance.

Both he and Webbie were featured on Foxx’s remix of “Wipe Me Down” because they were a known duo.

In 2008, Lil Boosie bwcame the founder of the group called “Da Click” which was followed by creating his own music label called “Bad Azz Entertainment”. This label later became a label called “Bad Azz Music Syndicate”.

In 2008, Lil Boosie was arrested after a policemen found illegal substances in his car. He had marijuana. He also hid a gun in his car. He pleaded guilty and got a 2-year sentence but his sentence came to 4 years after he violated his probation. The judge was very strict and made him wear an electronic monitor on his ancle.

“Da Beginning Mixtape” was released in 2008. It was the same year he had another quest appearance: it was on Dj Khaled’s “Out Here Grindin’ “.

In 2009 his record label published a promotion mixtape. It was done to make publicity before the release of his second big album. It was called “The Return of Mr. Wipe Me Down”.

He published his album “Superbad: The Return of Boosie Bad Azz”. His first single from that album became a hit. “Better Believe It” was made with two known artists: Young Deezy and Webbie.

In 2009 he released a mixtape called “Category 7: Bad Azz Hurricane”. The name came from his guest on the album: Hurricane Chris. Hurricane also comes from the state of  Louisiana, and is famous for his “A Bay Bay” single.

He was locked up in the Louisiana State Prison for five years: from 2009 to 2014. He was sentenced on behalf of drug charges.

In 2010 C-Loc ( who was Lil’ Boosie’s old mentor) and Lil Boosie himself made a CD called “Unbreakable”.

In 2010 his problems with the law continued with charges of murder.

That didn’t stop him to release his hit studio album under the name “Incarcerated” and published by the Asylum Records. Some of the featured guests were: Webbie, Fox and Lil Trill.

He was even on the verge of death penalty because his crime was so severe.

He wasn’t the one to pull the trigger but he was the one who hired a hitman nicknamed “Marlo Mike” in 2009 to kill a man named Terry Boyd. He paid $2,800 to Michael for doing this criminal act.

He came out  from prison in 2014 and signed a new deal with a record label Atlantic Records. After he was released from prison he made a lot of guest appearances on singles by artists such as 2 Chainz, DJ Mustard, Young Jeezy and a lot of others popular rappers.

He changed his name to Boosie Badazz in the same year, right after he came out of prison. He changed it because he wanted to point out that he is now a different, more dangerous man who survived prison.

His first album after the release was “Touchdown 2 Cause Hell” and it came out  in 2015 where Webbie and Chris Brown guest appeared.

In 2016 he released a collaborative album with C-Murder. It was called “Penitentiary Chances”. C-Murder is still in prison and is serving life-time sentence. The two of them made a song “Came2DaCan” which became known for it’s lyrics: they rapped about rappers who betrayed their friends after they went to prison. They especially reffered to Master P because he was rumoured that he turned back to his friends once they ended up in jail.

Lil Boosie was on parole until 2018, after which he was a free man. He is represented and managed  by Richard De La Font Agency from Oklahoma.

He is also a good businessman: he has a line of merchandise called “Jewel House” which earned him a lot of money. Boosie Juice is a brand of vodka with his name as the part of the brand.

He even  released a musical equipment: headphones called “Badazz audio”. It was in 2016.

Personal life

Lil Boosie had a lot of relationships with a lot of women which ended in him being a father of 8 children. He never found true love and had a lot of girlfriends.

Walnita Decuir was his longest girlfriend. They were even engaged. In 2010 she tried to bring drugs to Boosie in jail and was caught. She gained a probation punishment so after that she left Boosie and  launched a make-up line as her own business.

She published a book called ” When the Music Stops” in 2014 which brought her extra income, and she is happily married as of 2017.

Boosie and her have three children together: a daughter Iviona, sons Ivy Ray  and a son called Michael Jordan.

Trivia Weatherspoon gave birth to his daughter Ty and Tracy Taylor gave birth to his son Torrence Taylor.

Gerlissa Haze and Boosie have a daughter   Lyric Bey together and Rachael Wagner is the mother of his daughter Tori.

He says that he doesn’t want to get married because he is not the settling type. He pays child support to every kid he has.

He showed his character after he adopted two of his late friends children. After his two friends  Lil Ivy and Bleek died, he immidietaly adopted Ivy’s son Trell and Bleek’s daughter, E’mairi Nicole.

He has a daughter Laila Jean, born in 2016 but he never revelaed who the mother is.

Maybe one of the reasons for being alone lies in his medical history. He has diabetes which complicated and led to kidney cancer. Due to his diabetic disease he had a hard surgery and the tumor was removed from his body. It affected his way of life but not too much. Lil Boosie is still an addict, mostly on codeine.

Today he lives in Atlanta, Georgia, the center of hip hop world. He wears a signature hairstyle called the Boosie Fade and likes to wear a lot of shiny golden jewelry.
