Quavo is an America hip-hop artist, and he belongs from Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Early Life

Quavious Keyate Marshall who is popularly known Quavo was born on 2nd April of 1991. He went to the Berkmar High School but dropped out in his senior year as he realized his love for music.

He was good at playing football and played as a quarterback for his school team and also excelled at sports like basketball and golf. He started his career by being a part of Migos a brainchild of his.

He lived with his nephew, Krishnik, and their mutual knack in music helped them to bond and wrote songs at that tender age. This strong obsession made him eventually drop out of school.

Career

Along with his nephew Takeoff (Kirshnik Khari Ball) and cousin Offset (Kiari Kendrell Cephus) he began to work in ‘Migos’ which was formed by him in 2009. Quavo tried to pass his experimental mixtape around the school, but he faced ridicule but soon after Offset became interested in his music and joined the group. They initially decided on the name ‘Polo Club,’ but soon it changed to ‘Migos.’ The members were familiar with each other as they lived under the care of Quavo’s mother. The first mixtape that the group released on 25th August 2011 was Juug Season and soon followed it by one on 1st June 2012 called No label.

The track that brought prominence to ‘Migos’ was their single; “Versace” in 2013 became quite popular among people. The song was also released in remix featuring Drake, and it reached the number 99th on the Billboard for Hot 100 chart and 31st on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The song is still popular among artists as it is having been remixed by artists such as Johnny Polygon, Justin Bieber, Kap G, and Adrien Broner, and. The “Versace” music video was uploaded on YouTube, and till date, it has gathered to whooping number of 19 million views which state its popularity. The single also went to get a gold certificated when it sold 500,000 copies solely in the USA.

In 2014 ‘Migos’ came up with their third mixtape the No Label 2 that contained 20 tracks and they were successful in bringing guest appearances of artists like Machine Gun Kelly, Rich Homie Quan, and Meek Mill,. The mixtape got considerable reviews and secured the 175th position on the Billboard of Top 200 chart. The singles “Handsome” and “Wealthy” were quite popular and the single “Fight Night” became ‘Migos’ second record to receive a gold-certificate.

In July 2015, 300 Entertainment and Atlantic Records helped them to release their debut and first studio album named Yung Rich Nation. The album included tracks like “Dab Daddy,” “Playa Playa,” “Just for Tonight,”  “Cocaine” etc. The album was a success, and it secured the 17th position on the Billboard of Top 200 chart, and over 14,000 copies were sold in the very first week, and it also secured the 3rd position on the Top Rap Albums chart.

A mixtape was also released in 2015 called the Back to the Bando which was produced by eminent hip-hop artists like OG Parker, Drumma Boy, TM88, Murda Beats, and Zaytoven and others. It didn’t receive overwhelming reviews, but a single called “Look at My Dab” was able to secure position in charts like the Top R&B, Billboard of Top 100, and Hip-Hop Songs Chart.

In the summer of 2016 ‘Migos’ released an extended play 3 Way containing five tracks, Coppers and Robbers, 3 Way, Savages Only, Can’t Go Out Sad, and Slide on Em, the last featured the artist Black Youngsta. The piece was produced by Cassius Jay, Dun Deal, Zaytoven, and Ricky Racks.

The album Culture was released by Migos this year which gave a push to Quavo, and they were back in the world of rap game. The album is special as it features around an hour of rap and trap and includes guest appearances from artists from2 Chains, Gucci Mane, DJ Khaled, etc. This album turned out to their most popular album and sold almost 131,000 pieces in the very first week alone.

‘Migos’ as a group also like to collaborate in the hip-hop world, and they have featured in mixtapes of QC the Label, Rich The Kid, RYN Lingo, and Gucci Maine. They have also performed in the popular songs like Slide by Calvin Harris Pick Up the Phone by Travis Scott, Congratulations by Post Malone and Bad Intentions by Nike Heaton.
