Early Life

Sonny was born on March 05, 1991 in a small town in Saginaw which is located in Michigan, United States. From a very young age, Sonny was way more into the music than sports or studies. He found solace in strumming the strings of a guitar or writing verses. The thing that attracted him the most was the rapping scene and the spontaneity of it.

He got influenced by his cousin when he was just 13 years old and started making and composing his own beats. He was a kid who didn’t like the mainstream things like basketball or video games and rather spend his time making music and listening to it.

Sonny started his producing career at the tender age of 16 when he was already producing songs for a local hip-hop band along with a few other local acts that he was interested in. It was then that he realized that he could change things in the music industry and decided to indulge in being a professional record producer.

Career

While Sonny was definitely a lot keen into the whole producing, he got his big break when one of the famous rapper YC noticed him and used one of Sonny’s original beats in the song “Racks.” The song went onto the chart at #42 on the Billboard top 100 which was definitely a great achievement. It was also certified gold by RIAA. Not just that, several music critics even pointed out the fact that the songs did that good because of the beats primarily which definitely gained him even more recognition.

Sonny and YC have released several other songs over the years and have collaborated on a number of tracks. Sonny finally released his debut mixtape “Digital History” on May 09 in the year 2011.

The mixtape was mainly a compilation of all the songs that he had produced within 2010 and 2011 featuring several of the rappers including 2 Chainz, Piles, Wale, and Future to name a few. The mixtape was received very well by the audience and had over 70,000 hits in the LiveMixtapes.

Following the success of the first mixtape, Sonny released his second one on September 08, 2011 and titled it as “Behind The Muzik.” He was not alone in this venture and collaborated with Will a Fool was produced half of it. Sonny later went on to produced songs for the famous rapper Future, whose single “Same Damn Time” gained a lot of popularity after its release. He has also been part producing the debut album “Pluto” by Future. They released the third single which was just a revamped version of “Same Damn Time” and the songs charted at #92.

In the year 2012, Sonny produced yet another track titled “Don’t Get Me Started” which later featured on DJ Khaled’s album “Kiss the Ring” alongside AceHood’s mixtape. He has even appeared in a few music videos as well and worked alongside other popular music artists like that of acehood, Wiz Khalifa. He later released his third mixtape titled “Forbes Atlanta” with the rapper Que.
