Early life

Rush Hudson Limbaugh III was born on January 12, 1951 in Missouri, U.S. He grew up in Cape Girardeu in Missouri and his father was a lawyer. During the Second World War his father was a war pilot and has fought in the area of China and Burma.

His mother was a native of Arkansas. He grew up in a family full of lawyers, including his grandfather, cousins and his brother. Unlike his other family members, Rush decided to pursue a career in show business, specifically in radio hosting. After finishing high school he went to Southeast Missouri State University for couple of semesters but he decided college was not for him.

In his biography he states that he spent most of his life trying to fit in his family and earn their respect, because most of them are in high legal positions.

Radio career

After realizing that law was not something he was passionate about, he decided to move to Pennsylvania and pursue his career in radio hosting. His talent for hosting led him to earn a place among top 40 RJ on WIXZ list.

After his initial good start, he moved to KQV and was soon replaced there because the station was sold to Taft Broadcasting. Their manager told him that he has no talent and that he should consider doing something less creative.

After he failed to make a career in Pennsylvania he moved back home to Missouri. Even though he failed, his love for radio remained. He kept on working and improving and his career started to get in progress. During 90s his career reached an expansion.

During that time he worked on WOR (AM) and some of the greatest names in radio congratulated Limbaugh on his large audience. He included politics in his shows which attracted a lot of people. When Clinton was elected for president he talked about their policies, in a satirical way.

Today most of his income comes from The Rush Limbaugh show. He made a yearly contract of 400$ million and his show continued to gain popularity.

Besides being a radio host he appears often in various TV shows and interviews. He mostly appears as a political commentator since his knowledge and interest for the politics has grown over the years. He appeared on one of the episodes of Family Guy.

Limbaugh became famous for his neckties and decided to launch his own line. He participated as a judge of 2010 Miss America Pageant.

Limbaugh is also known for his writing. He has often been criticized by many for his controversial opinions on various subjects.

Some of his most famous books contain his general opinions on various topics and have received mixed reviews from readers and critics. Sometimes his opinions are controversial and harsh for the public to handle.

Private life

Until today he has had no children in any of his marriages and he divorced his first three wives.

His addiction to prescriptive drugs has been in the media spotlight for quite some time. In his biography, it was revealed that Rush often searched for his father’s approval and respect. This was the case because his brother and his father were famous lawyers, and Rush unlike them, never finished college.

In 2001 he suffered for hearing loss, which is something highly devastated for a radio host. Luckily he managed to get most of hearing back by implantation of a Bionic ear. To improve his condition even more, he decided to insert another Bionic ear to his other ear. After the surgery his hearing was 100% back.

He also enjoys spending money on cigars, especially on expensive ones. Because of  his large net worth he is able to afford cigars instead of cigarettes and he often mentioned in interviews, that they have been a beautiful addition to his life.
